You do realize that pic is outdated right? I could deal with Percy Jackson as Peter Parker.

I love it when they pair babes with geeks, aka Transformers. It's more hilarious than romantic.

It all started with Pete, even with Gwen Stacy...he is the eternal geek even after he loses the glasses and bulks up while his ladies whether its Gwen or MJ or Felicia are always amazingly out of his league.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I think the Percy Jackson guy looks more like Peter in my mind's eye than does Tobey Maguire. Tobey was more the early, Ditko, insanely nerdy high school-era Peter to me, whereas this other kid looks a lot more like a more average kind of kid, which is what Peter really became/was ret-conned into over the years.

Chick looks good, but has a tramp like quality based on that pic. Based on the anti-Dunst sentiment in this thread, though, I guess that's what most of you are looking for in MJ? Someone more like the Transformers chick?

Tramp is not the proper word. MJ has a sexiness which Dunst did not bring to the character. I think Dunst "haters" want and actress with the proper qualities.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Do you not think the chick in the above pics looks a bit skanky? Maybe the tattoo near (possibly connected to?) her private area and attempt to pull down her bottoms is skewing my view :lol

I agree with that. although tobey carried it off well, he didn't have the extremely scrawny nerd look that petey had.

Problem with M.Fox is that she's hot but can't act at all, which put a dampener on the Transformer movies.

I think the girl in the pic has a good look to play MJ, but whether she can bring the acting and attitude to the table is yet to be seen. (Only briefly saw her as Zantana so maybe others who watched more of the episode could fill us in on that department.) Just because she has a certain look in that particular photo doesn't mean she can not change for her role, that's what good actors do (assuming she is one :p ).

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I liked Maguire quite a bit, he just wasn't the Peter Parker that I grew up reading about in the 80s and watching in Spiderman and His Amazing Friends. I think there are different ways of approaching Parker that could all work, and Maguire did a fine job of presenting one angle.

I agree I think he did a fantastic job. I didn't think he would work initially but to me he made it pretty believable.

I thought she did a Good job as Zatanna, and there's no debating it, the Chick is WAY HOT!!

Of course this is true (though she still looks like a tramp based on those Zatanna pics--again, maybe my impression of "skanky" is the general public's impression of "sexy", but she looks like a porn star to me). But I don't think many folks here are concerned with the acting component. Seems that having the right look is what matters most to most folks, whatever that ultimately means.

Well any chick could have "tramp" qualities based on a specific pic taken for a specific purpose, but based on your last comment the answer is yes. Megan Fox serves no other purpose in the Transformers than eye candy and a human damsel in distress specific to Sam's involvement. The reality is while the comics have delved deep into Mary Jane's character especially dealing with her feeling of second-best compared to Gwen in Peter's life or her feeling less than during the Felicia love triangle but in reality the films will have Mary Jane be either Pete's high school buddy/girlfriend like Ultimates or just the object of his affection but she will serve no more than damsel in distress and of course the eye candy. Based on MJ in the books was an actress and lingerie model, give us someone who will at least give the general populus a chub.

Yeah that's pretty sad, but can you imagine if Megan Fox was cast as MJ? How many would like that show of hands?

Totally agree, she does need a hotness factor or some kind of x-factor which dunst seemed to lack. Even her when she said tiger I only half believed it. Other than that she did well. On an off not I've seen some pretty dog ugly actresses and lingerie models :p

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I wouldn't. Megan Fox is hot but supermassively overrated. There are plenty of Hollywood Hotties without dipping into that well again.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I'm just now wondering--maybe Dunst was chosen because Maguire was such a geeky looking guy, and the producers/Raimi/whomever didn't want to make it too unbelievable. I think it would be hard to imagine a woman like this Zatanna chick going after a guy like Percy Jackson. Just like I never believed Transformers chick would go after Shia LeBouf. But then, in the Spidey comic, Peter was just a normal looking guy who got the beautiful model girlfriend. So, maybe that was one mistake that the original producers made by veering too far from the source material in an attempt to make things more "believable."

Yeah I think they wanted to make it somewhat believable. I think it would have swung with the comic book crowd if they cast a really hot chick opposite Maguire, but probably only to 50ish% of the rest of the audience.
