Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Well any chick could have "tramp" qualities based on a specific pic taken for a specific purpose, but based on your last comment the answer is yes. Megan Fox serves no other purpose in the Transformers than eye candy and a human damsel in distress specific to Sam's involvement. The reality is while the comics have delved deep into Mary Jane's character especially dealing with her feeling of second-best compared to Gwen in Peter's life or her feeling less than during the Felicia love triangle but in reality the films will have Mary Jane be either Pete's high school buddy/girlfriend like Ultimates or just the object of his affection but she will serve no more than damsel in distress and of course the eye candy. Based on MJ in the books was an actress and lingerie model, give us someone who will at least give the general populus a chub.

This is all it pretty much boils down too! like it...or not, it's the truth.

:lol

Well, that's legitimate I think. Personally, I would be fine with no MJ involved at all, but if that's what you guys all want, then I hope that's what you end up getting. Just do Spidey right, and I'll be a happy camper.

I think thats how we all feel :D

although personally, i think you need some kind of female factor, whether it be MJ, Gwen, Betty....

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

If they are smart they'll introduce Gwen since that is who Pete's first actual love is AND Mary Jane but as a buddy. Pull a little creative license and pull her into high school instead of at Empire State University where he first met her. Then use Doctor Octopus, have Captain Stacey get killed by falling debris from the battle which involved Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus. Gwen blames Spider-Man for that event, which sets back their relationship for a while in books it could create the personal "hell" that Peter has while not using the damsel in the distress angle but still have it be powerful. Then intro Mary Jane as a possible love interest in the second creating a mini love triangle, kill her off using the Green Goblin then have Mary Jane console to create more humanistic tones...

Just MHO.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Yeah, it would be tough to present any realistic portrayal of a teenage boy without a female involved somewhere along the way. Plus, Spidey has always had women around, be it Betty Brant, Gwen Stacy, or MJ, and they always played an important part in the comics. . .but having said all that, I could live with them downplaying the romantic drama at the expense of more super villain fighting.

Nuthin wrong with any of that, considering thats pretty much whats happens anyway.

Just make Gwen and MJ HOT or it won't work............jk :lol

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

but if you get rid of the so called love drama\triangle\Angst, and soley concentrate on action ( which would be cooler) your gonna lose the whole tween\teen female audience and i don't think Sony wants to cut it's audience in half.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

We have July.

Spider-Man Reboot Release Date Set
Sony Pictures Entertainment has released an official statement on the Spider-Man reboot:

"Spider-Man will swing into theaters worldwide in 3D beginning July 3, 2012," it was announced today by Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution. The new film which is still untitled, will begin production later this year directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.

Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, "Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we’re thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D. Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc’s fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise."

So there you have it. It’s definitely happening. It’s definitely 3D. Casting decisions are in progress

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

"Avatar producer John Landau revealed to MTV that Marc Webb, director of new untitled Spider-Man film, met with James Cameron last week to discuss shooting the movie in 3D. It was announced last week that the studio intends to go that route.

"Last [week] we met the director of [the next 'Spider-Man' film]," Landau said. "[Webb] wants to do the next one in 3D, which they've announced that they want to do. So, we want to try to support that as much as possible."

Landau added that they want to support filmmakers who will shoot in 3D from the get-go.

"Other movies are turning to it now, some of which I agree with, some of which I don't agree with. 'Clash of The Titans' is coming out in 3D; they're converting it very hastily into 3D. I'm not in favor if that," Landau explained. "If you want to shoot a 3D movie, shoot it in 3D."

Yeah I kinda like 3D movies but it has to be a good movie first and foremost like you said. I rather watch a good 2D movie than a crap 3D one.

Brian Bendis Meets With 'Spider-Man' Movie Team

Posted 1 hr ago by Caleb Goellner in Marvel, News

012010_spidey.jpg
Ever since new "Spider-Man" director Mark Webb opened up to MTV News about his appreciation for "Ultimate Spider-Man" less than 48 hours before getting the gig, fans have been wondering just how influential Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley's work could be on the future of the film franchise.
Well, Bendis added fuel to the speculation this afternoon when he posted on Twitter, "Just spent a very interesting morning at Sony with the entire spidey movie team!! Very very cool stuff!!"
Even though the writer's message doesn't necessarily spell out an "Ultimate" adaptation, Bendis' role in shaping Marvel's "Iron Man" and the upcoming "Thor" (along with Hollywood adaptations of his creator-owned content) certainly adds weight to the notion that his long-running series could provide source material for the big-screen "Spider-Man." Between Zac Efron's attachment to "Fire," the "Powers" television series picking up steam and his continued role as an architect of the Marvel Comics universe, it's no secret that Bendis has Hollywood's eye.
As it stands, the film's key roles remain up in the air. Webb's "(500) Days of Summer" star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and recently announced "Stretch Armstrong" star Taylor Lautner seem less likely, while actors like Efron and Logan Lerman of "Percy Jackson" have more recently gone under the microscope for the role of Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter ego.
Whoever Sony finds to don Spidey's threads down the road, fans of one of Spidey's most successful comic book interpretations to date can at least take comfort from knowing the studio is likely considering an "Ultimate" approach to its cinematic storytelling. Either way, fans will find out when the 3-D film opens July 3, 2012.
What do you think of a more "Ultimate" Spider-Man spinning webs in theaters? Let us know what you think in the comment section or on Twitter!

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

To me this is unneeded. Spidey had 3 good flicks...and some heroes still haven't had one decent one yet. Poor form Jack, poor form.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Of course it was unneeded, but it is what it is now. And fans of the franchise can only hope for the best.

(Of course some would argue that it had 2 good flicks)

No kidding. Corporate greed sucks! Controllable cheaper director, budget cuts and casting unknowns. Even if their gamble does pay of it still boils down to them wanting to make more money vs. producing a good movie.

Todd McFarlane On The 'Spider-Man' Reboot, Venom, And The 'Diminishing Return' Of Movie Franchises

Posted 3 hrs ago by Rick Marshall in Marvel, Video

Spawn might be Todd McFarlane's most famous solo creation, but it was his work on Spider-Man that first made the veteran creator a superstar in the comics world.
Knowing that he's spent much of his career navigating between the comics world and Hollywood, we tracked down McFarlane at Toy Fair 2010 to get his take on the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot, why it happened, and what he hopes to see when the webslinger returns to the big screen.
<embed src="https://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:484719" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="opaque" name="mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:484719" id="mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:484719" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="autoPlay=true&configParams=vid%3D484719%26instance%3Dwp" allowscriptaccess="always" width="512" height="319">

"I'm going to take a guess that the reboot is driven mostly by business and economics," McFarlane told MTV News. "There's a bit of a diminishing return on movies."
"You go, 'Look we can spend $300 million on this movie and make $500 million at the box office, or we can spend $120 [million] and make $500 million," he explained. "We have a built-in audience that's going to come, even if all they're coming for is to say, 'This cant be as good because the budget isn't quite as big.' They're still going to come."
Given his dealings with the Hollywood machine in past and future incarnations of "Spawn," multiple music videos, and various lines of licensed toys (among other projects), McFarlane offered up a few more thoughts on the mindset behind the high-profile relaunch of Spider-Man.
"I think the studios are looking for ways to get people in the seats and still do enough 'Wow!' moments, [but] not have it be for the full two hours," he said. "It doesn't have to be special effects ad nauseum for two hours. If you pace it out right, you can still tell a good story with good visuals, keep your budget in and arguably make the same money you made before."
As for what he'd like to see in the film?
"I'd like to see Venom back, as someone who co-created him," he smiled. "I would've always made him bigger and hunched over, make him a little more formidable. He's a little more Hulk-ish to me, not just a guy who's been to the gym."
"I always think that when you have a hero, the bad guy should be very tough in terms of the battle, and not necessarily a contemporary," he added. "That's too easy. It should be somebody that makes you go, 'Wow! They're five times stronger, five times bigger — how is the hero ever going to beat them up?'"
"But they're not asking me to do any directing or character designing right now," he laughed.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Whoh boy.... let's see what happens....

I do get tired of origin stories in superhero films though, so I'm hoping they jump right into the action.

OMG the thought of TMcF directing... A FREAKIN MOVIE...

some might think it could work...?

NO IT COULDN'T... if the guy can't articulate his action figures... I rest my case!

VISION PEOPLE... vision...(sob)
