Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

If an actor can't portray emotion through a mask, then he's a bad actor. David Prowse is a dimwit and even he could do it in Vader's mask.

I would attribute that more to the strength of James Earl Jones' vocal performance giving emotion to Prowse's movements, which I guess does prove that if the vocal performance is strong enough, you can keep the mask on. It has to be damn good though.

V for Vendetta I haven't seen for ages, so I can't really comment, but again, a vocal performance by an actor of Hugo Weaving's caliber has a lot to do with it.

yeah but it was not the voice really, there were so many subtle movements he would do, even a little tilt on the head would change his expression,
It would be possible for Spiderman to show emotion with the mask on,and It would be cool if the eyes moved even a a little,

Sweet! Good to know and looking forward to it. I'm definitely warming up to this movie more and more. I was a huge fan of the Trilogy, so I'll admit that I was a bit close-minded when this was first announced. But, I like the direction that this one is headed, and I think they'll done a great job so far, distancing themselves for the original 2002 release.

the scene in ROTJ in which Vader watches Luke being zapped by the Emperor is the perfect example as to how cinematography and a costumed actor can portray incredible emotion.

Which I'd argue wouldn't have worked despite Jones, if Prowse had just stood there like an idiot making no movements whatsoever. If you've ever seen a behind-the-scenes pre-dubbing, Prowse is acting his heart out in the suit. Proof even a bad actor can make it work despite having his face hidden.

Man, what a pencil neck. :lol

Hot Toys shouldn't have a problem there.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Spidey can absolutely emote through a mask without having Garfield's face show all the time, they do it in the comics by stretchings of the mask in certain directions, they could zoom in "through" the lenses to catch his eyes reacting. It's not that hard, hell they could CGI most of it if Garfield wasn't up to the task.

Having Tobey Maguire remove his mask every five seconds was absolutely the dumbest thing about the prior trilogy and if an actor wants to be shown so much they should have signed on for a character with a mask.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Even though Spidey is meant to be slim as a mutha Garfield needs more mass. Spidey in the comics isn't just slim. His muscles are highly visible and he's really cut. Should have let him work out a lot and than slim the hell down.

:exactly:

3 was worst though as Venoms face had around a total of 1 minute screetime, the rest was Topher Grace with fangs :slap

...

One thing the i remember from Spidey 1 was when Goblin had MJ on the brudge and Spidey yelled "don't do it Goblin" but his jaw didn't move and whoever was in the suit was basically a mannequin, no acting or movement at all in that scene
