Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Even though Spidey is meant to be slim as a mutha Garfield needs more mass. Spidey in the comics isn't just slim. His muscles are highly visible and he's really cut. Should have let him work out a lot and than slim the hell down.

Remember a lot of the basis for this film came from the Ultimate Spider-Man sagas mixed in with our standard universe so if you look at Garfield as the USM version, he more than fits.

Saw Fruit Snacks at Target today from this film. While it's just snacks, merchandise is starting to stream in.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

On a side note, saw the new Spidey - a young black dude with another suit - looked different, yet kinda cool

Who says Spidey should have just one look?

^^^ That Spidey still has some musculature though (more in tune with Toby's physique). Garfield looks like a string bean with a set of hungryman abs. :(

Believe it or not I was completely against the Miles Morales move thought it was a cheap grab to revitalize the Ultimate universe which had failed twice before. Believe it or not, it works. The way they've introduced and explained him, works especially considering the connections to how he came across his powers and the differences between them.

Bendis is shortsighted in thinking that Miles could not co-exist in the world with Peter especially considering that one of the fundamentals of Peter is the quest of family and acceptance having to deal with so many losses with those who are close to him and having no one who could really understand what he is going through.

In the 616 Universe they are incorporating Kaine as that link, that "brother" that people loved about Ben Reilly so much (one of the few things even the critics loved) but Bendis has severely lost it thinking that his universe must have a "Highlander" rule to it's heroes.
Just a tiny aside.

Garfield's physique actually looks more like the USM (or any spidey) then what tobey looked like.

:lol Tobey's waist is like two of the above illustration's put together.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Nam's right. Here are my top 5 reasons I won't be seeing this:
1. Total disregard for Lee/Ditko canon.
2. Spidey suit designed by the blind.
3. Martin Sheen and Sally Field.
4. Tween pandering.
5. Andrew Garfield's neck.

Wrong. Google "Ditko Spider-Man" or "Romita Spider-Man," and you see a helluva lot more Tobey than Super-Coiffed Giraffe Neck.

If you're psyched for this, congrats. For those of us who were there when Lee/Ditko/Romita (and Kirby) changed the course of comic book history, we'll stay home and watch SPIDER-MAN 2, thank you very much.

My summer starts in July, anyway.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm not psyched just interested. Looks pretty cool. A lot better then what Marvel Studios have been pumping out the last couple of summers...

TDKR will be the movie of the year. (For me)

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'll be watching this because I support my comic book movies 100% (even...cough...The Phantom), but I can already say I won't believe at all that Garfield's anorexic frame can take the beating Toby's could. So belief will be suspended as if seeing an Angelina Jolie action flick, which is a goddam shame. :huh

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

For a lot of us, my friend.

:goodpost::exactly:

The top 5 reasons I wanna see ASM:
1. The Lizard
2. Gwen Stacey, Emma Stone :drool
3. I know it will be better then SM3
4. Andrew Garfield is a MUCH better actor then Tobey McGuire (Unless he's crying)
5. The direction seems more realistic then the last movies.

Not to mention, if this gets a sequel maybe we can actually see Venom done right.

1. since when have movies ever been canon to comic book ?
2. Spidey suit looks awesome, your just blind
3. Dont know why you hate them
4. Omgz it haz romance in the movie its obviously catering to teh tweens!!!!
5. Dont get the whole neck thing:slap

And stop with the TDKR crap already It looks good but it doesnt look as good as the second one at all. I gotta see more stuff before I judge but that epilogue sucked and the trailer was decent at best.

Gonna have to give him that point given Emma Stone could easily whoop Andrew's ass. :lol
