Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Ok, so my ONE FEAR seems to be confirmed: He spends half the movie as Spiderman sans mask.......!

JEZZUS PEOPLE!!!! otherwise, the tone of the trailer was pitch perfect

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I have a feeling this film could be the best superhero movie for me this year, like X-Men First Class was for me last year.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I don't think this will happen considering Gwen knows that Spider-Man and Peter are one in the same.

Actually even better since in blaming Spider-Man she essentially knows and blames Peter but considering:

The shots of Gwen at a funeral at came out a few months back I have a feeling that he bites it in this one and they just gave the "killing" rights to The Lizard. Unless it happens while fighting and she already blames Spider-Man in this one setting up a conflict in the next.

If Stacy bites it, I have a feeling you'll see Normie next similar to the way they save the Joker for the second in the Nolan series.

As for the mask controversy I'm waiting until I see it on screen, it's a trailer and they are pitching Garfield the actor as a reason to see it, to differenciate it from the last so naturally they'd show more shots of him. If he is maskless throughout once I see it then I'll _____.

Unless that's Uncle Ben's funeral.

Though, I think you're right, I thought the same thing. I think Captain Stacy will dies because of the Lizard or because of a Spider-Man vs. Lizard confrontation.

But as far as Gwen hating Spider-Man, I haven't been following the film that much, but there seems to know who he is. There's that shot of him battered and beaten to a pulp with her comforting him with his suit to the side. Then there's the trailer with a Spider-Man/Gwen romantic interaction and the cliched "it shouldn't be up to you to stop this".

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Oooh that's true I forgot about Uncle Ben.

I still say they'll go the lengths of pitting Gwen vs. Spidey/Peter for her father's death if he makes it. It's perfect romantic drama and appeals to The CW crowd while still keeping it honest to the comic nerds like us who will dissect it.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Lizard reminds me of the Goombas from Super Mario. I'm sure it will be a good movie, but the trailer doesn't give me goosebumps like Avengers and TDKR, and I'm not sold on the Spidey suit.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I know the webshooters are in some comics. But why? What is the point of getting bit by a spider? What powers does he gain? Does he need suction cup gloves to climb walls? Does he need contacts to not need glasses? I don't get it. I thought Raimi's was an improvement. That wasn't in any comics before those films came out?

The only thing I liked about the trailer was the bit in the back seat of the car with the burglar. That was pure Spider-Man. Some of the shots looked great too. I also liked the shot of him in the sewers? On the web. That reminded me of the comics.

Other than that, it looks just like the older films except with a new cast, a new story and darker cinematography. Spider-Man swinging through New York still looks as "fake" as it did in the previous films. I can tell when it's a CGI Spider-Man or a stunt guy/Garfield in the suit. The suit doesn't look as bad when it's in motion but it still looks like ass. Hopefully Spider-Man is constantly moving around so all we see are red and blue blurs.

Also surprised so many are quick to proclaim that this beats the hell out of the previous installments when it appears to have the same "problems" that the Raimi films did. Looks like he'll be unmasked (everyone _____ed about this before, but now it's in front of the NYPD with search lights on his face) and quite a few people will know his identity (atleast Gwen and Connors). It seems that the only real difference other than what I mentioned above is the story subplot (OMG, teh Parkers worked for Oscorp, made webbing and knew Dr. Connors) and a "darker" look.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. This trailer WAS better than TDKR and Avengers. Why? It showed more. But we have yet to see the movies. I really don't see much here that makes me super pumped for it. It just reaffirms my desire NOT to see the origin again and Garfield as Parker is just bizarre and out of place to me. The SM3 trailers were SO EXCITING the way they edited those, and that movie was more than a letdown to me. It's a stinking pile of poo...

I MIGHT see this in theaters because the trailer was entertaining. But I'm still skeptical.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

The trailer is just as underwhelming as the bits and pieces that have been slipping out here and there. This film simply didnt need remaking yet. That decision still baffles me.
The kid playing him looks horribly miscast in terms of how we perceive Parker to be and his huge beak and giraffe neck really irritate me to the point I want to punch it.
Looks piss poor but hoping it does an X-Men 1st Class and actually becomes an unexpectedly decent film

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

the Trailer looks badass, no doubt about that. The story seems different but the visuals look the same as in the original trilogy, Im still bitter about the reboot to be honest but im def going to check it out. Was the new trailer in superbowl? i didnt see it? why didnt they wanna put in in there?

And it def didnt compare to the Avengers or TDKR, but what movie can LOL

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yeah, it really did look like "Spider-Man 4" but with a different actor running around maskless this time. Not sure what already makes this supposedly so much better than the Raimi films.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

There's one shot of actual practical swinging in the trailer.

ASMgif1.gif

Hope there's a lot of it, because it was seriously lacking in the Raimi movies. The only time real practical effects were used for swinging was for when Spider-man is about to take off or when he lands.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Nobody ever complained about Macquire back in the day, at least for the first two films. :dunno

I agree, MJ could've been hotter, but other then that, no complaints from me on the first 2. People are already proclaiming this to be the better film before even seeing it :cuckoo:

Apparently the Raimi films were lacking a lame suit and bigger doofus playing Parker. Finally that's been remedied! :yess: :clap
