Watchmen.....

Oops. How could I forget that.?:monkey3

I love Watchmen too. If any comic book film were to be considered underrated, Watchmen would be it in my opinion.

So yeah, we've basically seen it all.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Thanks for that heads-up, Nightwing. Definitely going to keep an eye on that.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

What's different about The Avengers is that it's essentially a film that was five films in the making. The events of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America basically lead us into this, that as far as I can recollect has never been done. While Watchmen showed us a team movie outside of the X-Men, The Avengers is a team movie drawn from other elements which is unique.

As for ASM, it basically looks like the Spider-Man film I wanted back in 2002. I never liked Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man although I thought his cast around him like Jonah or Connors were all well done. In a perfect world you'd take the best from the Raimi films and insert them here.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I love Batman more than Spiderman, but this movie looks just great. Spiderman has the benefit of coming off a terrible 2nd sequel, whereas Batman is coming off of the incredible performance of Heath Ledger....Amazing Spiderman has the edge (for me) in that, it seems way more true to the essence of the character.

No matter what happens in the new Batman film, it'll be a disappointment to some, if nothing other the fact its downhill after Ledger's joker

It REALLY bothers the crap out me how people always overlook Aaron Eckharts Harvey Dent/Two Face. Ledger did not make Eckharts role look like garbage.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

:lol

But in all seriousness, I am a big Nolan fan, but the TDKR trailer did not excite me half as much as this.

Regardless of your preference, this is a better trailer.

It's a better trailer ill give it that, but it's apples and oranges because this is the 2nd full trailer and you're comparing the TDKRs first full trailer. I'd say this one shows a hell of a lot more

But anyway, the more good movies the merrier, it's shaping up to be a great year for geeks

What? Rises had Its teaser (Gordon Talking), and ASM had its teaser (1st person view).

Rises had its 2nd trailer (football field destruction), and ASM had its 2nd trailer (Lizard reveal)

So far, Spiderman has 1up-ed Batman twice trailer-wise.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I complained about Tobey Maguire all the time, as did many the thing is that he also has his share of fans. For me Peter's transformation from nerd to "jock" was so severe in the books, his classmates refer to him as being night and day with it. Tobey never had that, he was the same dorky Peter Parker just sans glasses. Garfield doesn't seem to be channeling that either but the time with nerd was so short, I'll accept it as the post transformation Parker is closer to what I expected.

Yeah, the Peter transformation was very weak. In the comics, Liz getting a crush was not just due to him no longer wearing glasses.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I don't get the whole "BATMAN VURS DA SPIDERMAN" fanboy flame wars, reminds me of all the ignorant people you see fighting over COD and BF3. Stupid and pointless.

Yeah, I really wish someone could design a Greasemonkey script to filter out all the posts comparing this with TDKR or asking why a reboot was needed ad nauseum.

Did you guys even see the first Spidey flick in '02? Maquire went from to scrawny to ripped in a way that was Cast Away-esque and it really had people buzzing. What you think Garfield's transformation from scrawny dude to...scrawny dude is going to be more impressive?
