Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

really he had to show off like that pete playing with a basketball then dunking

What's wrong with showing Pete showing off? It's clearly post- the"great power" part and pre-understanding the "great-responsibility" part.

It's no more uncharacteristic than having him use his powers to win a wrestling match.

If you were playing BB against a kid who had a ball stuck to his hand, then displayed great acrobatics in dunking it, then later saw a "Spider-Man" news blurb, you wouldn't put 2-and-2 together?

Of course, just like I would if I was Raimi's Flash and just got my ass handed to me by insanely-fast-reflexed, ridiculously-balanced, better-than-olympic-gymnast-flipping, 20-foot-super-punching, Tobey-Parker.

Don't forget about Tobey's double backflip. :lol

the music in the clip did suck a little,

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yeah, I'm not defending either version of the "Peter gets back at bully" scene as believable in the sense that none of the witnesses guessed he was Spider-man, I'm defending the scenes as believable in the sense that a long-bullied nerd with overnight powers wouldn't be reluctant to use those powers to get back at the bully without a thought of the consequences... (or even thinking about the secret identity he will soon have to protect).

That was much more ridiculous. Doing those flips and ____ in the air like that infront of all those people.

No it wasn't. Humans can do back flips. Known fact. I don't think humans can jump 20 feet into the air and dunk a basketball while at the same time breaking off the metal basket and the glass. :cuckoo:

I dunno, I think both scenes are equally revealing that he's been doing a lot more than just eating his veggies. A backboard breaking dunk from behind the 3-point line? :dunno Very few professional basketball players can even make the jump to rim from the foul line. Nevermind that he gets almost his whole body in the air above the bottom of the backboard.

It's really hard to say that one version is more ridiculous than the other.

Both scenes are ridiculous and this new scene was likely inspired by Raimi's. So trying to defend one over the other is lame and apologistic.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Damn, I thought they were going for a more serious Spiderman this time around.. The over the top cheese and the G rated family music really didn't do it man... That was really cringe worthy.. I'll be able to forgive that scene if the rest of the movie still feels like the vibe they were going for in the trailer. They shouldn't have used this scene as a sneak though, it was really weak...

hate to say it everything i saw im not impressed i might prefer the raimi movies over this in my mind Toby is still the worst everything im seeing is a rehash of the other movies .

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Also Peter Parker is supposed to be likeable. I don't want to see him bullying Flash, just not cool at all..

Like I said, it's post-power, pre-responsibility. In the comics origin and the Raimi movies, just letting a thief get away when he could easily stop him isn't that cool or likable either.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

That scene wasn't great, but Pete should definitely be cocky and arrogant with his new powers. It's that abuse of his newfound powers that leads to Spider-Man.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

LOL

Some people just don't get PP.

He obviously just got his powers in that scene, and is finally standing up to a bully in his life. It's just like the Raimi scene, instead of a forced fake looking flip we get an over the top dunk. (pick your poison kids) It's SUPPOSED to be lighthearted and cheesy.

If that's the worse this film has to offer were in good shape.

Either way they are both stupid. That dunk scene was way over the top. And is that mila kunis chewing gum.
