Isnt MJ suposed to be a super model esque looking chick though? I mean, Emma is hella cute, but i dont think shes hot. I could see her as MJ, but i could see why they didnt choose her as well.

I only added that pic for ____s and giggles. When it comes to Marvel movies, I don't expect anything anymore. I just hope for the best but expect the worse. I think casting Emma Stone as Gwen is a bone head move because she looks so much more like MJ especially MJ in Spidey TAS (imo anyways). That's my real complaint atm. Maybe it's because there were strong rumor that she was gonna be cast as MJ I got my hopes up and when she was cast as a different character than I expected, it made me more dissapointed than it normally would have. Same with January Jones being cast as Emma Frost instead of Alice Eve. There were strong reporst saying Alice was gonna be Emma in X-M:FC but when it was announced that Jones got the part it annoyed me but after seeing Jones in costume, I've really gotten used to her a Emma Frost. Maybe the same will happen with Emma Stone as Gwen once I see some pics.

Even if Emma is a natural blonde, to me she looks better as a red. Apparently, many here agree. At least they can't change that sexy voice of her's lol. Be curious to see how she does in this kind of role. So far I'm liking what I'm hearing for 2012.

Not sure how I feel about this casting. At least its not for the role of MJ. MJ in this movie needs to be stunning and ES isn't that. From reading it appears she is a natural blonde so i really do not see the hair as being an issue. GS was killed by the Green Goblin so I wonder if this is a multi film deal. I hope they don't use some other villain to kill her off in the first movie. If she dies it should be at the hands of the GG.

No. Originally Mary Jane was supposed to have the "Girl Next Door" look and created to be a counterpoint to Gwen Stacy. Gwen was the modelesque type but very reserved and non-offensive. So Mary Jane was beautiful but in a more natural styling but her personality was wild and outspoken. The whole Model/Actress thing was done in the Bronze Age/Modern Age in order to give Peter another hassle to deal with, him being Spider-Man and then having to deal with Mary Jane's needs to have a career and be in the public eye.

Even in the most recent comics, Mary Jane is drawn as more realistic with wider hips and a slightly rounder face like the Silver Age as artists are trying to break away from the tall Amazonian images of the 80s/90s.

At least we can keep guessing who'll be cast as MJ. Who else was rumored for the role besides Emma?

This is really weird....why would they take an actress that everyone recognizes as a redhead and imo looks great as one!! and seems to have the right feisty attitude to play MJ and put her in the more demure of Gwen......really is just puzzling to me
