Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I was a fan of the organic web-shooters as well. It was a nice added mutation to his list of spider abilities. It made perfect sense and I almost wonder how Lee/Ditko missed that opportunity when they first created the character (although it really should have come out of another orifice, shouldn't it? ;))

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I actually hate the organic web-shooters. Pete is a science nerd first and foremost. The bite gave him the knowledge of how Spiders create webs but he has no spinnerettes to do it, so he chemically compounds them together and creates the webshooters to use them to his ability, an excellent and continual nod to his geeky roots even after they change his looks and make him more "cool". Also it was very funny to hear that one of his problems financially is that the stuff needed to make webfluid is very expensive adding to his need to take pictures of Spidey and sell them to the Bugle.

Not sure in 616 when the organic shooters were developed (I want to say after the 1999 film) but I remember when Spider-Man 2099 had them, he grew spinnerettes on his forearms, not the direct wrist and its novelty wore off quite quickly...

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I completely understand your objection, Mike. Peter's creation of webshooters was indeed a great way to show off his exceptional intelligence that he had before the accident. But I still think the organic shooters would have been a very logical mutation to get in addition to spidey senses and ability to scale walls. Besides, didn't he invent other devices as well, like the tracking bug? Was that only in the cartoon?

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Also the web fluid was a compound his father was working on(it was not called web fluid obviously) that he never completed. And Pete studied it and perfected it. (i believe) Webshooters are a must also if they want to distance this movie from Raimi's films. (imo)

Also he would have web coming out of his ass if it was a mutation not his forearm :)

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

It seems like Spider-Man keeps getting away from his roots as a genius. He's not Tony Stark or Reed Richards smart, but isn't he supposed to be a "realistic" level genius?

The thing I also like about the webshooters is that it adds that extra bit in worrying about them running out.

What could have been.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Well, with the organic web, wouldn't he have to go back and eat it to recoup it like a real spider?

:lol

i also liked the organic web-shooters. it was james cameron's idea, and to me made perfect sense. if a person really were to have the natural abilities of a spider, that's THE defining trait.

however, i wouldn't mind seeing mechanical web-shooters in this reboot. after all, they're starting EVERYTHING from scratch, might as well do this too...

btw, speaking of rebooting everything, i feel sorry for poor dylan baker. :monkey2

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Moviehole is reporting that Sony Pictures is launching auditions for a young Peter Parker and Billy Connors, the son of Curt Connors, for the untitled Spider-Man reboot. The site says: Sony want a dark-haired Caucasian boy to play actor Peter Parker at age 4 to 6 years old. Ideally, the boy should look a little like Andrew Garfield...

In addition, the studio's on the hunt for an actor to play Billy Connors, the son of Dr. Curt Connors... Applicants need be between 8 and 11 years old.

Young PP and his parents probably. Lizard is coming for sure.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I'm not a true Spider-Man fan. I could care less about the comics. Or whatever. Organic Webbing makes more sense to me. I pefer that. My Spider-Man will always be the character from the first 2 movies.

Wish they made a Spider-Man 3. Too bad. Could've been good.

Hollywood Insider : Editor wanted for Daily Bugle

Writing to you on a laptop in the Coffee Bean adjacent to the Roosevelt. Chewbacca sits a few inches away.
Marc Webb is meeting with actors at the moment, filling the remaining slots in his 2012 Spider-Man reboot.
Francine Mailer is working through the night helping Webb find the remaining actors for the remaining roles. She reaches out to agents with an offer to meet for “Untitled Teen Action Adventure Movie”, apparently.
The latest piece of the puzzle they want to lock in place is J.Jonah Jameson. It’s apparently proving quite a difficult role to cast - no big surprise, right?
Of the dozen or so actors currently under consideration (seems to be as many up for this job as there were Spidey himself!) for the role of the Daily Bugle’s gruff editor is John Slattery, one of the stars of Mad Men. Slattery previously worked with Marvel on Iron Man 2, in which he played the title character’s father, and reportedly has a good relationship there. Can Slattery do grizzled though? that, I don’t know. Could work. Sam Elliot’s name I’ve also heard mentioned, but I don’t know whether that got any further than an inquiry as to his availability (but again, someone has worked with Marvel already; in this case, Ghost Rider). He might be fun.
Webb and the team are reading these actors, and likely more, for the part over the next few weeks - no doubt complete with cigar and mustache - so a J.Jonah Jameson announcement should be just around the corner. Personally gunning for Stephen Lang (surely he’s in the mix!?)… or a relative unknown (Gotts to be someone out there from the theater world) who embodies the character down to a tee? After all, it’s not a part that really calls for a super big name - just a good, fun impersonator.
Whoever gets the gig is going to be hard pressed topping J.K Simmons’ turn as Jameson in the first three Spider-Man movies, though.. don’t you agree!?

Sam would rock!

Sam Elliot or Stephen Lang, either of those would be great.

Meh, more "TRUEFAN THEY RAPED IT ____ ANYONE WITH A DIFFERENT OPINION" bull____. :dunno The webshooters are inconsequential; but something that always bothered me about Raimi's movies was that they got the personality of Peter Parker wrong. Where were the quips, for example? That's one thing I hope they'll fix for the reboot, because if I have to sit through one more Spiderman movie with an angsty Peter...:slap

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

WHAT ARE YA DOIN UP THERE!?!

"Staying away from you."

"That's a cute outfit, did your husband give it to you?"

"CHEESE!"

"Settle down, tough guy. Let mom and dad talk for a while will ya?"

"Not coming back, chief."

There might be more. He had a few in Spider-Man 2 "Here's your change!" but SM2 seemed more serious because of the nature of the film. Quitting the Spider-Man role, losing MJ, losing jobs, paying rent, depression, Harry seeking revenge etc.

I don't know what you guys want. I thought there was enough balance and humor with Spider-Man in the Raimi films.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

They should just bring back J.K. Simmons, he did an awesome job. Why do they have to replace the entire cast to do a reboot?
