Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

They should pull what they did with Judi Dench in Casino Royale. Reboot, recast, but keep a familiar face. No one can top Simmons, so why replace him?

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

They should just bring back J.K. Simmons, he did an awesome job. Why do they have to replace the entire cast to do a reboot?

They should have just left well enough alone, especially since the villain ended up being the Lizard.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Yeah, they should bring back the original Kurt Connors. In fact, I'd just as soon this movie pick up as a sequel to the others with just a new Parker and Mary Jane cast, and Gwen if she's going to be in it.

They casted Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, its more now if Mary Jane will be in it.

I wouldn't have a problem with this as long as they found a way for it to work without spending too much time explaining the first trilogy.

If they focus on Gwen being Peter's love interest in the first movie I think they should save MJ for the sequel.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

What the hell is Uncle Ben doing in the reboot? Please not another origin story. And I don't need a flashback to let everyone know what happened to Uncle Ben either.

Sally Field Aunt May?

Will she join the cast of the 2012 release?
It looks like things are moving fast now! Just after we posted the news that Martin Sheen is in final talks to play Uncle Ben in Columbia Pictures' untitled Spider-Man movie, we've learned that Sally Field has been offered the role of Aunt May in the film as well.

In the original Spidey trilogy, Uncle Ben was played by Cliff Robertson and Aunt May was played by Rosemary Harris.

Should Field accept the role, she would be joining Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans in the Marc Webb-directed film that starts shooting in just over a month.

Columbia Pictures is targeting a July 3, 2012 release.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Sally Field? That seems like a weird casting choice.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

She's around the right age now. And a great actress. From these two casting choices, they're definitely going the ultimate route. (as far as looks) Wonder if Martin Sheen will have a ponytail!

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Both are very good actors.

And Sheen really has that father figure look in his old age, I think he'd be perfect.

Don't like the idea of anyone replacing Simmon's Jameson however. He brought alot of life to that character.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

The more i hear the more i think this reboot is for the best.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

No doubt about it.

The first SM barely holds up effects wise compared to the other 2, the CGI is terrible, and Power Ranger Goblin kills any threat of his character for me, he's just goofy.

3 was a trainwreck obviously.

People are latching onto part 2 like its the greatest thing ever but its still pretty damn corny.

Hopefully this movie will show all the fanboys what we could have been getting for years.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Yup should be flashback with uncle Ben. They are looking for a 4-6 yr old PP after all.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Sally Field and Martin Sheen have me thinking the Ultimates incarnations of both characters. While the 616 versions wouldn't work if you read Bendis' early USM stuff, both actors would fit perfectly.
