Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

His role should be very small in any regard as Stacy was literally a foil to create tension between Peter and Gwen. In the comics Octopus kills him by accident to which Gwen blames on Peter and breaks up with him because he defends Spider-Man as a hero. I have a feeling some of that storyline is being prepped especially since Gwen's own death isn't too far off of that....

:duff I aim to please.

I like the casting (so far) and definitely think (after S3) that a reboot is the way to go.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

We don't need a reboot, just show a few clips of SM3 then have new Spidey wake up and say, "What a horrible dream!" Then give us what SM3 should have been with a good Venom.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

For those of you that thought SM3 was bad...

Heat Vision reports that Campbell Scott and Julianne Nicholson will play Peter Parker's parents in Columbia Pictures' new Spider-Man movie, while Irrfan Khan (Slumdog Millionaire) is in talks to play a villain named "Van Atter." Could it be Nels Van Adder, who becomes Proto-Goblin (more info here)?

Van Adder volunteered to become a test subject for a chemical developed by Mendel Stromm and Norman Osborn. He acquired enhanced strength, fangs, and clawed hands and feet.

Annie Parisse ("Rubicon") will play the villain's wife.

They are joining the previously-announced Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Denis Leary, while Sally Field has still not been confirmed.

Shooting is starting this month in Los Angeles under the direction of Marc Webb for a release date on July 3, 2012.

I'm sure this is a rumor (or at least I hope.) But why? Why is the thought of this even being "toyed" with?

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

i dont see him fitting into this movie unless he is a best friend of PP, not a villain.

Well....it would've never had Venom in it in the first place...so...:monkey1

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

And Sam probably would've had to do it...but he didnt need to be forced to do it.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Simple, they are following a Batman Begins style move. Choose a obscure villain and tie him to the mythos so that the focus is on the character instead of splitting time with the villain. If they use Green Goblin or Venom for example, the focus is split. That can be avoided in sequels because you've already introduced the main character.

You could have Norman in the film, begin to set him up or even Connors using these testings and even creating a villain without risking or even worrying about a major villain.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

THis is still an origin story guys. No its not a Spiderman Origin per say since we all know the deal with that, but for these specific versions of the characters it is an origin. It will dictate how they should be behaving etc for the rest of the series. So it definatley would be too early to have Goblin or Venom, you need to build up experiance and character first before throwing Peter in with the best the franchise can offer.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

It now seems the benchmark but I guess alot of us are going into this hoping for a Nolanised feel to this reboot

It's now what we have come to expect, everything has to have that Nolan vibe going on, I am not saying thats a bad thing at all

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

With Spidey I'm more open to crazy things like a guy riding a flying surfboard with exploding pumpkins or a giant mutated Lizard. You can't really take a realistic approach to making a man mutate into a reptile but its about keeping the character stories grounded.

For example don't have MJ being kidnapped for the 4th time, its unrealistic and just stupid. How many times am I supposed to care if this girl won't get the message and keeps getting abducted by supervillains.

And when every single bad guy in the course of 3 movies says I'm sorry and then kills himself, it hurts the character's story.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Green Goblin got accidentally killed by his glider.
DOc Ock died while destroying his sun machine thingy.
Green Goblin 2 died of injuries from... his own glider... when he jumped in front of Venom trying to kill Spidey with it.
Venom/Eddie Brock died by Spidey using some crazy musical instrument on him and a pumpkin bomb.
Sandman... flew away like Dust in the Wind. But he didn't die.

So three of those did say they were sorry. Two sacrificed themselves.
