The haters wanted to hate this movie so much. They KNEW it was going to suck from the beginning. They knew it was too early. They knew from the trailer it was awful. And then the movie turned out good, maybe even great. (i knew it was heading in the right direction two years ago cause i actually followed the movie) And now there's not much to hate is there? It just makes me smile is all!

It was a good if not great start!! I still think the sequel is going to be where it's at!

Avengers isn't all that original unless you've never seen Episode 1 and Independance Day, and considering most people, even haters, are all in agreement that the chemistry and relationships were far better then the original SMs... :dunno

Wait til his Batman gets rebooted in a year and 5 months. :rotfl

I hardly think TDKR will be as complete ____ as SM3 so you want to talk unnecassary...

This movie is going to crash though. Dark Knight Rises is out in 11 days and it will end this film flat. I'm curious if ASM can even make a profit (its generally understood you need to double the production budget to make a profit). Also it has had the weakest opening week-end of any Spider-Man film. Generally films drop every week.

Hopefuly if they make a sequel it won't be at night all the time. Spider-Man should be prowling during the day. Also they need to do something about the mid-rift in the suit. A belt or something. It looks goofy as is.

:slap:dunno. the hell are you talking about this movie soared and didnt crash at all. Its the most positive spidey movie since the second movie and every fan I know loves it. Its not like its the green lantern of the summer at all no. We got two good movies Avengers and spidey. Way to go marvel. Now dc has batman which will obviously be epic but could disapoint ya never know. Anyway this movie by all means wont crash. it did what it needed to do and thats be a gateway for bigger and better sequals.

I remember the same thing happening with X-Men First Class :lol

People seem to like to devote their attention to 2/3 superhero films per year and automaticcaly predict the other one to be crap, and even if the film turns out good or great, they like to keep that attitude :slap

I bet there'll be hardly any talk of it being too soon :dunno

It's already made $340 million worldwide it's first week and 2 sequels are greenlit. :nana:

And it had actually had the largest tuesday opening ever.

Largest tuesday opening is nothing to brag about when most major motion pictures debute on a Friday. That's like winning the special olympics when you're the only one who is normal.

$340 million worldwide is fine and dandy but it's going to drop significantly every week. It's not going to have any lifeline since Dark Knight Rises hits so soon.

Of course Sony has greenlit sequels. If they stop producing movies for Spider-Man, the film rights would return to Marvel (Disney). Sony will not let that happen, which is a shame for the fans as it limits possible cross-overs.

Numbers do not lie. go to boxofficemojo.com.

It's not doing anywhere near as well as any of the previous Spider-Man movies.

It beat Transformer's Tuesday opening. The Godfather, Apollo 13, plenty of others.

And no they had to make this first one to keep the rights, they can take their time now with sequels.

Whoa whoa whoa...

Sure, inflation and number of showings will allow it to pass The Godfather...but that's the only time it should ever be in the same sentence lol

And with Captain America! All the haters knew it was gonna suck becaue of Joe Johnston.

None of the haters showed up after Cap was a hit! :lol :lol :lol

Of all the movies I was most disappointed with Captain America. Surprised by Evan's acting though, but with a better director some of the corny lines and scenes would have been done way better.

TDK - great film

The Avengers - great film

ASM - great film

I liked them all.

It's like some of you on here feel like you're cheating on your partner if you like Batman over Spidey or The Avengers over Batman; and use that and box office numbers to attack other peoples views.:pow

:exactly:
We live in an age of fantastic superhero films.

We live in an age were people can't accept that people can like more than one thing and like something that they don't like.

And yeah; we should be greatful that we are getting so many superhero films. I just hope that in the future I have the opportunity to take my children to see these great characters at the cinema.

If Marvel did get the rights to Spider-man we would be waiting years for movies. They are struggling as it is with just Thor, Cap and Ironman. They have not announced a new Hulk movie and are likely to announce GoTG during comic con. And if they did get Spidey back those people _____ing about the current reboot would have no problem with a third reboot under Marvel. What is the bet that when Marvel gets around to making a Hulk movie it will be rebooted. Best Hulk fans can look forward is to him appearing as special guest in the upcoming a Avenger movies or at least a five year wait unless Marvel/Disney up the number of movies to 3-4 a year.

It's weird how marvel and Disney are incharge of asm merchandising and not the marketing
