All right I'll chalk my take on the film as going against the flow with this one. :lol

I wouldn't say I didn't like the movie, but it had alot of issues. My biggest gripe is that they couldn't fit in JJJ; a staple character since you know, the beginning. I also don't care for the suit change. Spidey has one of the most bad ass suits in the world, amongst any comics, you can't improve it, they've tried in the comics before. When you got the best keep it. The true breakthrough is the stars they had. I felt Garfield made a great Peter and I loved Gwen. Just wish they'd had the inclusion of JJJ and the traditional kick ass suit, maybe I'd have been a little more open minded to some of the other stupid **** I didn't care for.

No I wouldn't. That was an adaptation of a comicbook character. It cited its source. ASM claimed to be a reboot. But it wasn't. It was a remake. There are too many similarities between ASM and Raimi's to make it feel like a new, fresh movie. It's rehashed garbage. And if they really did ignore the past films and pulled everything from the comics and ended up with such a similar movie, than it was not worth revisiting the origin because there was nothing wrong with the world Raimi established. They should have done a soft reboot and used the world/characters established and just kept going with these new villains and situations.

Yes... Yes you would. Feelings and opinions on the quality of the movie aside, there is no escaping the fact that both Raimi's Spider-man and TASM are simply two movies based on the same source material. Yes there are similarities, because they are based on the same book. The same would apply if Raimi's movies came after Webb's TASM.

If TASM was a "remake", we would have The Green Goblin, Mary Jane Watson, the Times Square scene, Peter wrestling for money, Spider-man rescuing people from a burning building only to discover its the villain in disguise, the villain making a substantial offer for Spider-man to join forces with him, Peter getting a job at the Daily Bugle, I could go on...

The only constants between the films are the elements required to make a Spider-man origin story... a Spider-man origin story.

If these elements were not present on TASM, then it wouldn't be a faithful adaptation of the source material.

Obviously say what you like about your thoughts on the quality of the movie, but to say TASM is copying Raimi or is a remake is ridiculous.

An emotionally distraught old guy who tries to prevent a violent crime and apprehend a criminal in a moment of weakness? Okay, I guess if you want to have a random thing to over-react about and carry on as if it's the worst thing ever to happen in a superhero movie I suppose that's your prerogative. :lol

You are wasting your time. His favourite movie is Aliens v Predators.

People need to accept that movies......especially comic book movies........will never be made they exact way they want. There are too many stories and characters that have been in the books to include. I've never seen a bigger bunch of crying babies than "fans" of comic characters who end up on the big screen. They can only be equaled by Star Wars fans.

Do you read the dribble you post? You contradict yourself often. :lol

Aunt May wasn't bad either, well, compared to the last one. :monkey1

You mean "The Flying Nun." :horror :wink1:....

Again, the Raimi Aunt May was certainly more iconic and closer to her comic counterpart but the Sally Field Aunt May was just so much better written and acted.

ASM is like the "X-Men: First Class" of the Spider-Man series. Doesn't have the iconic first string aspects as the others but just the best all around movie.

Aunt May in the originals has that great, touching scene where she talks about heroes. Better actress or not, I cared more about the old Aunt May. She reminded me of a great, caring Grandma, especially that smile she has in the first film when she over hears the conversation between Peter and MJ.

There's also that moment where Peter comes home, without Uncle Ben, and without dialogue you feel the emotion. It seemed like a real response to a tragedy. She could feel there was something wrong.

I like Sally Fields but she doesn't do much in the Amazing Spider-Gump.

Pretty high rating for not liking it. And karamazo's rating is pretty low for saying its good. :monkey1
Well, 5 is average so 6, being better than average, is pretty good to me.

To Khev's list, one thing I did really like was that Spidey felt more like a guy in suit more often than he did in the Raimi films (where the CG was just too much at times).

2. I hated the absurdity of the Green Goblin and Spider-Man both turning into super powered beings independently of each other the exact same week and appreciated how ASM linked Spidey to the creation of the Lizard.
But it is still absurd that the Lizard is created around the same time that Spidey is created, whether or not they want to say that Spidey was in some way responsible (and his responsibility didn't really have anything to do with his being Spider-Man so much as being the son of Connors' partner). Right? That's the nature of most superhero movies though.

:exactly: Not looking forward to a Spider-Man series where he's created all the villains by filling in the missing equation. :monkey1

I actually like the idea in the Nolan Bat-Movies that wacky costumed villains start showing up in direct response to the wacky, insane vigilante guy who shows up first. That's still a pretty silly idea if you sit there and think about it for a minute, but. . .y'know, at least they try to explain it :lol

So then why doesn't he just do the world a favor and kill himself so he doesn't create anymore villains. :lol

Not compared to the Raimi approach. Yeah Peter gets bit the same week he helps Connors correct the formula but at least Parker is the common denominator rather than an unrelated 1 in a trillion circumstance that happens independently of another 1 in a trillion circumstance in the same city in the same week.
