I understand upgrades after a couple of years, but I'll never understand people who line up every single year to shell out another 500 or 600 bucks for a new phone when the one they bought last year works perfectly fine. Apple is a marketing genius to get people to do that. Most of it is people who are so trendy and can't dare to be seen with last year's tech. Deny it if you like, but there are MANY folks out there like that. Gotta keep up with the Jones' and let everyone know about it.

Who says I have a problem admitting that? Lol.

There's people out there donating (flushing down the drain) money to churches or whatever religion.

And much like a statue, the phone will be in my pocket one year from now, and likely won't loose its value like 80% of statues out there.

Also, the 6S looks just like the 6, so no one will notice how awesome I am.

Tech>Dolls.

New iPhone> overpriced, horrible 1K custom dolls too.

Gotta keep up. Enjoy your galaxy 2.

Tech may be greater than dolls, but not statues. I don't collect the dollies LOL.

I'll have my statues in 20 years, but your phone will be a distant memory.

In all seriousness , I really do understand an upgrade after 2 years, but not every single year. It's pointless to drop 600 bucks on what you already have working in your pocket just so you can say you're "keeping up". You're Apples wet dream, but it's your money so to each his own.

Kit, you're forgetting the ability to sell the old model a month to 1.5 months prior to the release of the new one for almost its original cost (unlocked). Selling after two years you won't get the same rate of return and will likely spend more money overall.

Lol-

Who says you'll be around in 20 years?

Enjoy life man, it's only one, regardless of whatever fairy tale you might believe.

Let others enjoy being Apple fans. And Pix is right about the year circle/resale value, but you are just obsessed on calling whoever upgrades yearly an apple wet dream.

Honestly, I don't care about cell phone value. I don't even have a personal cell. I have a company cell I use. I'll just never understand a person's NEED to "keep up" and consistently drop hundreds and thousands of dollars every year on the latest model of the same gadgets they already own. Look, when a phone breaks, screen gets cracked, battery won't hold a charge or ithe is just generally beat up after a couple of years I totally understand an upgrade, but I don't understand camping out for 2 days and acting like you just won the lottery for the privilege to shell out 600 bucks for what you already have in your pocket. I'm not saying you're wrong or that you can't do it. I'm just saying that to me, it's a waste. To each their own.

Seriously? You feel the need to attack people's faith with your "fairy tale" comment? Whatever........look, I've said to each their own. If you NEED to blow 600 bucks a year on a phone then go for it.

Are you being disingenuous to waste our time or piss us off? You're doing both now, so there's no need for a more elaborate reply - I don't have time nor patience for trolls.

Are you being disingenuous to waste out time or piss us off? You're doing both now, so there's no need for a more elaborate reply.

You're actually pissed off? Wow, I guess it doesn't take much? You hipster Apple folks sure get upset if someone just has an opinion that differs from yours. I like Apple products and own a few, but good grief. I just got an iPod touch this year after having my classic for 8 years. That's just how I am. I don't replace stuff that works. If you want to that's fine and it's up to you. I see it as a waste, especially EVERY year. Sorry to discuss something on a discussion board.

Also-

Only idiots camp out. There's this thing called the Internet. I ordered my 6S while I was partying at home, enjoying a bourbon (straight, on the rocks is for sissies) and while in AMAZING company. It only took me 2 minutes.

I get the hate towards those people, I real do. Makes me sick to see them camping out too.

And for those interested in getting rid of their 6's while the value is up there-

eBay is running a promotion, if your phone sells, you'll only be charged $5 on seller fees, REGARDLESS of how much your phone sells. This applies to any smartphone, not just iPhones btw.

So, your company flip phone is not included, unfortunately.

Opinions are fine. I just object to dull tools who should keep flipping burgers instead of taking breaks to get behind a keyboard to write complete nonsense to try and incite other board members. Like I said, you're either trolling or just too stupid to read what everyone else is writing. I don't see either of those things as a positive.

And for those interested in getting rid of their 6's while the value is up there-

My brother sells his previous phone every year like clockwork. His 6 went this year in-person for $100 less than he paid for it - he had a few dozen inquiries minutes after posting it for sale. That's less than $10/month use, pretty good IMO.

Meh, I agree with KitFisto. Not to put down anyone else who likes to pick up the newest device every year. My brother is the same way... lol *shrug*

I would consider myself an apple fan. I have a lot of their products, but I certainly will not pick up the newest phone every year, psh. I really wish they would upgrade every couple of years with more features than they usually offer. But whatever, I'll wait for the 7 next year.

If you did, you could save money (it would cost you less for every year of ownership). But if everyone did, there would be too many older phones on the market and the prices would go down. So don't change anything.

I really wish they would upgrade every couple of years with more features than they usually offer.

You want them to change more than everything? Two years ago the 5S came out. Compare that to the 6S. Even comparing the 6S to last year's 6, everything internal has changed. The performance has increased by a greater margin than it did moving from 5S to 6. Before asking for "more" you should identify specifically what you feel is missing from what you have now.

6S in the house.

Still restoring it with my huge 6 backup, but one thing I've noticed is how FREAKING fast Touch ID is now.

Imagine- Instead of waking your iPhone by using the sleep/wake button, you do it with the home one. But just by pressing it, it already registers your thumb and the phone unlocks. Seriously, it's like half a second and the phone is ready to use.

It's the little things.

I'm trying to upgrade my wife's 5s to the 6s. I have AT&T and it's telling me her line isn't upgrade eligible. Even though her 2 year contract is up and it clearly shows contract= month to month. She still has unlimited DATA so I know that has something to do with it even though AT&T will never admit it.

That's ATT being ATT. They likely want to move you over to their "shared plans" or they "next" rip off plan.

You are eligible, try Best Buy one Costco, they are know for not being as sneaky as AT&T corporate stores.

I take it this is about trying to get the phone for a subsidized price right? Otherwise you buy a phone, change the sim and you're done.

I understand that. But it won't even give me the option of ATT Next. Which is what they want all their customers to do now. I'm just gonna have to buy the phone outright like you said. Prob wait till Sams or Costco drops the price by $100.

I don't think that you should be THAT rough on yourself.

Hey EXOTICLEX - I noticed this too. If you are trying to upgrade on Apple via AT&T, "Next" looks to be the option other than purchasing outright.

Same on AT&T, but there is a filter that lets you select the 2 year pricing instead if applicable.
