I think this is a clear winner,
there is no way that Rises can beat Avengers in opening weekend, it might even come close to a tie, but I think is unlikely, I think the opening for Rises will be less than Avengers, that seems pretty obvious,
I dont see how can Rises beat Avengers,

I think it will. I really do. :lecture

Yes, but it's not like the option wasn't available to him. He turned it down. So any gain Avengers would have over TDKR as far as 3D goes, becomes negated.

Exactly, to get closer to an accurate comparison, you'd have to count all of the 3D regular / 3D Imax tickets, but subtract the 3D premium price over the same number of regular / Imax tickets,---( (because these movie goers would have went to see it even if 3D wasn't available, right?)---which is difficult to figure out.

There is also the kid factor. For all those that say Avengers is more "fun" than Nolan's Batman, you've got to admit that is more likely to attract families...and of course, more ticket sales.

There is one factor that I am not sure has been mentioned yet. If we are honestly comparing the pull of superhero films, in addition to the factors mentioned above, it took Avengers 600% as many superheroes to make 130% as much as The Dark Knight's opening weekend.

Not bad.

No doubt that TDK BO was impressive.

Outside of Nolan though, WB is a big FAIL overall with their Superhero properties.

Marvel is a big WIN overal!

Remember the overall picture.

Harry Potter who. :lol

If we're going to compare that, might as well add up the total sums of all the movies of both companies in the past decade and look at the sums there. We should all be waiting for a JLA film this summer, not TDKR. It's unfair to ____ talk Marvel because outside of Batman, WB can't get their ____ing ass in gear. :huh

:lol:lol:lol:lol

WB/DC had 20,000% Green Lanterns shooting their rings into space make 2% at the box office. :lol

Then again, Ghost Rider 2: Electric Boogaloo :slap

Agreed. Batman is WB/DC's hottest single property.

Also agreed that an accurate ("fair") comparison would be Avengers vs a JLA movie.

Or Batman, (DC's hottest single property) vs Marvel's hottest single property (Spider-man?).

I do see your overall point though, and honestly after Avengers' success, I wouldn't be surprised if this lit a fire at WB to start building toward a JLA movie in a few years.

Just keep it separate from the Nolanverse, please. :wink1:

You know you're just asking for it, right. :lol

Yup, but did all of those green lanterns have backstories in separate movies to get the audience invested in them first?

For me, these are two seperate beasts.

The Avengers is a very good comic book movie.

The Dark Knight is a very good movie, with comic based characters in it.

Avengers is the kind of movie I wanna watch, The Dark Knight Rises is a film I want to experience.

I don't know, honestly the DC heroes never caught my attention, I mean, I Hate Superman, but besides that,
Aquaman is superlame, who wants to be him for halloween? no one, what kid looks at Aquaman and goes, "yeah That's my favorite hero"

Flash is cool but, I never cared, WonderWoman, never cared at all, they were never that cool to me to begin with,
Of course they have their core fans, but they would have to make something amazing to get people interested in those heroes,
I know the cartoons might be good and I know a lot of people love them, But I think In general there is more love for Marvel charaters than DC Characters, at least now, more people like heroes like Iron man or Hulk than people like Flash or Wonderwoman,

Batman and Superman are the ones that have kept going strong,

I'll say it over and over, someone pinch me like John Travolta, do we really have a great Avengers movie and a new Nolan Batman movie 2 months apart from each other. :thud:
