Its only a matter of time now.

Re: Matt Reeves Batman film

So it seems like WB is going after directors that think superhero movies are stupid. They're also going after directors that are less likely to compromise with, Mel and Ridley will never make these films unless they get the Snyder treatment that WB seems to have taken away from their other directors.

Yeah, for as much as I respect Snyder, we need something different now, someone who doesn't try to justify absolutely everything about Superheroes with pedestrian realism.

I would keep Snyder as a DP consultant and keep his fight choreographer too, everything else has to go.

With WB being so reactionary, I can see them possibly considering making SS R rated, the only thing is, there's so many big names attached to that property that it would be hard to make it lower budget.

I wonder what's causing so much trouble getting the Batman movie done though. I'd love a low budget R rated Detective Batman movie. Honestly I don't know what studios throw so much money at these movies that don't really need to cost so much.

Re: Matt Reeves Batman film

Logan is going to make a ton, especially for its smaller budget but I don't know if it's going to have legs like DP did. There's a lot of big movies opening not long after.

Re: Matt Reeves Batman film

If Ridley gets to helm this movie it will absolutely get the 'R' rating.

Same goes for Mel and SS2.

Re: Matt Reeves Batman film

Like Tim Burton, Snyder would make an absolutely amazing Art Director/Production Designer because he has a very visual imagination and is able to express it ... He's a Visualist... but he's just not such a great Director.

Burton is a great director, he just blew his load early.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice & Edward Scissorhands are brilliant movies. Ed Wood is a masterpiece.

Ed Wood is his best movie. Finally a well-told story from him.

The rest -- and I enjoy Pee Wee and Beetlegeuse -- are not well-told stories. They are mostly a collection of 'skits' (for lack of a better word). Some bits work, some don't. He's an interesting filmmaker absolutely... but he's not a great director.

He's not at Hitchcock, Spielberg, Fincher level. He just isn't. Neither is Snyder (no matter how "epic" his films look).

I love that weird little compact/beeper/cel phone thing in It Follows. It's like...this is no time ever, but let me make you comfortable so I can **** with your brain.

Re: Matt Reeves Batman film

I find Big Fish superior to his early stuff.

I liked it. Same goes for Big Eyes.

I just don't think those strong recent efforts can match how iconic his earlier work has become.

Re: Matt Reeves Batman film

Scott won't do it- he is a control freak( at least he used to be...)

Affleck will probably end up directing it after all.....:lol
