Iron Man 2 is better than nothing.

Well, that's not true... it's better than the Schumacher Batman movies. :lol

IM2 has exactly 2 charismatic actors (RDJ and Rockwell). Cheadle's Rhodey is a travesty. Which is a shame, because he's a great actor. He's simply not believable in the role, though. And has zero screen chemistry with RDJ, which may be a first.

The things that stuck out for me in IM2 were:

1. *Ridiculously* gratuitous director screen mugging by Favreau
2. Tony leading the drones on a low flying path of destruction through the city, resulting in who knows how many collateral civilian deaths
3. A criminally anti-climactic final battle

But I'd still rather have it on as a "background movie" than TIH.

I will agree there are 2 charismatic actors in that film...and even they couldn't save that pile of poop. :lol And I really do not like Paltrow as Potts. Her acting does nothing for me.

I thought Iron Man 2 was awesome. Not as good as the first, but still a great Iron Man flick. Wtf, lol. I must be easily pleased. Oh wait...

Hmm. I actually might say it would be around Cap's caliber, if only because Val isn't too bad in the flick and Nicole Kidman was drop dead gorgeous. :D

I see the Hobbit being brought up a lot in this thread. Isn't the one we're getting this year merely part 1 of three films?

Always analogies with you. Every time. :lol

Just saying that the fantasy genre isn't for everyone, no matter how well-made the film may be. Saying "The Hobbit will be better than all of the superhero movies combined" is a stretch, at least for me.

Besides, what if Hobbit turns out to be the TPM of the franchise? : panic:

It's not a stretch. It probably will be. LotR is already better than every superhero movie combined.
They're some of the greatest movies ever made whether you like the genre or not.
