I agree that "quitter" Batman isn't like comic Bats, but the way Keaton Wayne presented himself, the vibe he gave off, that wasn't any Wayne I was familiar with. Closer to Ted Kord. Patrick Bateman is a pretty dang good Bruce Wayne IMO. And I'm not sure how Nolan Bats was only protecting white collar gotham. Seems like Begins Bats was focused primarily on drugs (which affects the poor) and then the fear toxin (affects everyone). Joker and Bane were both trying to create anarchy in the streets with the ultimate intention of destroying the whole city--again, something targeting everyone. Same thing with Keaton Bats taking on Joker and his mysterious poison cocktail.I'm not going to get into Batman Returns, because that's always felt more like a Tim Burton movie to me than a Batman movie (that same way, incidentally, that TDKR is more of a Chris Nolan movie than a Batman movie).
And I completely disagree with the notion that Nolan's Wayne is closest to the comics. The whiney titty-baby that wants to quit being Batman at the drop of a hat (and, in fact, does... twice)? The Wayne that apparently cares more about fighting the mob and protecting white collar Gotham than going after street thugs and protecting everyman victims? Not even close.
