I'm not going to get into Batman Returns, because that's always felt more like a Tim Burton movie to me than a Batman movie (that same way, incidentally, that TDKR is more of a Chris Nolan movie than a Batman movie).

And I completely disagree with the notion that Nolan's Wayne is closest to the comics. The whiney titty-baby that wants to quit being Batman at the drop of a hat (and, in fact, does... twice)? The Wayne that apparently cares more about fighting the mob and protecting white collar Gotham than going after street thugs and protecting everyman victims? Not even close.
I agree that "quitter" Batman isn't like comic Bats, but the way Keaton Wayne presented himself, the vibe he gave off, that wasn't any Wayne I was familiar with. Closer to Ted Kord. Patrick Bateman is a pretty dang good Bruce Wayne IMO. And I'm not sure how Nolan Bats was only protecting white collar gotham. Seems like Begins Bats was focused primarily on drugs (which affects the poor) and then the fear toxin (affects everyone). Joker and Bane were both trying to create anarchy in the streets with the ultimate intention of destroying the whole city--again, something targeting everyone. Same thing with Keaton Bats taking on Joker and his mysterious poison cocktail.

seems like year after year movies are getting dump and dumper
.....and this year to me it has hit the bottom.....
last good comic book movies ---Ironman 1---tdk

Iron Man I could see, in that scenario. Thor is pushing it though. You'd have to really, really, really love the character. I liked the film and thought it was better than Captain America, but there were some cheesy moments reminiscent of failed comic book films, that kind of took me out of the experience. And as much as I love Natalie, her line, when Thor gets his mojo back, was cringeworthy. >.>

Unfortunately, no comic book movie can truly compare to Superman: The Movie. It paved the way for Batman '89, which paved the way for Spider-man, Batman Begins and the Nolan franchise, Iron Man, Thor and Avengers.

Iron Man 1 and Thor are the only good Pre-Avengers movies. The reset are super average at best.

I dunno, I am in the minority when I tell people I really enjoyed "The Incredible Hulk." But I've only seen it once. I thought I liked it more than IM1 which I've only seen twice and found incredibly boring the second viewing. I've seen "Thor" several times and I still enjoy it. That's the indicator of a good movie for me.

Fixed :wave

Oh,

Thor > The Avengers by not as wide of a margin :lol

I'll give you batman and the incredible hulk.

If I'm ranking the marvel phase 1 movies

1. The Avengers
2. Iron Man
3. Thor
4. Captain America
5. Iron Man 2
6. TI Hulk

:exactly:

Summer 2012 < The Hobbit

Big time.

I think this will be the case. For me anyways. Everything I've seen about the hobbit just shows that it's gonna be an amazing trip. So my expectations are über high. The Avengers has been the only film that I think will give the hobbit a run.

Captain America over Hulk and Thor?

YUCK! :slap

:goodpost::exactly:

I think Captain America was on par with Iron Man 2. I have to see it again, but after one viewing, I left really let down and disappointed.

As far as all these "classics" being named, a lot of that has to do with nostalgia and our ages. Just wait for all these tweens and teenagers to grow up and start talking about how great movies today are. I like a lot of BAD films from the '90s that if I saw for the first time today I'd dismiss as rubbish. But because I saw them as a kid, I can look past all the flaws and see something in them great that doesn't exist for a lot of folks.
