I'm going with the Best Buy steel book myself, because I collect steel books and if you pre-order this week you get an additional 100 reward points.

But the Target one you get a $5 giftcard as well as extra content when you preorder. It's speculated that it's an actual extra disc instead of digital content.

I wonder if Family Video will have 4K for rent. At $30 a pop it's a great way to go IMO. At least until the prices come down.

Speaking of Deadpool, they'll be a Best Buy exclusive steel book as well.

Now if there's a steel book for the 3D release of TFA...:gah:

Okay jye.....which way to go....You have a choice between 4k and 3D, with 3D being cheaper at the moment. Which disc do you buy?

Wasn't TFA scanned at 4K but then processed at 2K HDR for theatrical release? I thought that rendered 4K moot.

True but you're forgetting one major thing.

First the minor reason.

I would still prefer the native output from the disc match the native 4K display regardless of the resolution it was filmed with and mastering at the studio.

AND.... more importantly, the major reason is that the 4K disc comes with HDR!

Remember, when all is said and done, HDR trumps Resolution!

Hard question for a normal person to answer.

But since that's not me i'm going to go ahead and tell you what my psycho *** will be doing.

I'll be buying BOTH the 1080p 3D AND the 4K/HDR version of the same movie if I feel strongly enough that the 3D is worth the extra expense.

I will just count that 3D disc as an extra disc in the set.

When I want to watch in 3D I can.

But for when I want to watch it in 2D I will now always prefer the 4K/HDR version.

I'm getting the best of both worlds!

I just refuse to have to sacrifice one for the other.

You should start a petition for studios to pack the 4K AND 3D Blu-Rays, together, much like there were Blu-Ray and DVD combo packs.

The entertainment industry pushed 3D on us, then the TV manufacturers did, now it seems TV manufacturers are trying to kill it, even though there are many homes with 3DTV's in them and plenty of 3D discs that get purchased. I had Laserdiscs for many years (90 to 97), and despite low sales, the industry held onto the technology quite stubbornly, which im thankful for, but I would venture a guess that there is far more 3D content sold in a year than Laserdiscs sold in their entire run.

I like how you think.

Thank you!

Steel book it is...

Crap, the completist in me now feels I need to get the Episodes 1 to 6 steel books as well...
