I had to rethink my buying habits, as I have way too many discs that I have only watched once, or, (gulp!) never.

It's kind of sad when you tally up all the money you spend on movies, only to realize that most of them never get touched more than one time.

I have tried to be more choosy with my Blu purchases, but every now and then I still slip, mostly because I like to buy movies for my kids.

I rarely buy on day one anymore unless its something I know I love and want it ASAP or want a special version of it.

Now I feel less bad about buying cause I buy ALOT on sale and not nearly as much as I did with DVD.

I've had to rethink my buying habits as well, both for Blu-Ray and video games...I still have some video games from the PS2 era that are still in their shrink wrap.

Got rid of a bunch of DVDs a while ago by bringing them to FYE. A lot of the DVDs I sold as "used" were still in the shrink wrap as well...

I keep telling myself not to buy for packaging...steelbooks, slipcovers, ect...it has definitely helped me avoid buying movies I won't watch or only once, or double dip. Though the sizable number of these I have on my shelves would show otherwise. :slap

I remember the feeling of joy when I finally finished with my DVD catalog collection, new movie purchases are very far and few between, mostly Superhero crap for me or kids movie for my son.

I learned to keep what I have, never trade in or sell because I will end up just missing it and rebuying later! Learned that the hard way! :slap

I'm trying to keep my yearly blu-ray purchases down to 3-5 movies per year. For 2016 it's looking like it will be BvS (Ultimate Cut,) Civil War, Suicide Squad and Rogue Squadron (unless of course I end up not liking any of those that are still upcoming.) I'm thinking I can just do The Witch On Demand every Halloween and be good without owning it.

The only 2015 movie that I still plan on purchasing is Krampus, I assume it will be available on disc when the holidays roll around again.

I've cut back some, but I must admit, very little. I'm not up there with Iron by a long shot, but I do buy a lot.

But then I don't buy shoes or purses, so I'm probably ahead. :lol

It's Ok as long as you're buying it for the next new medium. I expect you to buy everything again on 4K... and then again on 8K. I know I will. :lol

I only buy a handful a year now that I have all these streaming services

Streaming services is what's making me buy more movies since I collect mostly old classics with actors like Cary Grant, James Stewart, Cagney, Hepburn, etc. I'm afraid that streaming will bog down the amount of movies released on Blu and I have to have all those movies with the actors I mentioned. I don't see many on Netflix or whatever with these actors. I'd have to have TCM but you don't get to watch whenever or whatever you want with a channel like that.

Hulu has a pretty good classic movie section

I got very choosy about what movies I upgraded from DVD to Blu, I imagine I will be even choosier when it comes to 4K. After that, I can't imagine what gimmick they will need to get me to upgrade further. Unless my home theater ends up being the size of an actual movie theater.

Good to know but I don't think I can get Hulu in Canada, but I might be wrong. I'll check it out thanks.

There are customers around here who have liemax size home theaters. :horror

I only have a 112" but my girlfriend is pretty happy with that...I mean, she likes my screen too...we both enjoy it is what I mean.

112" is the equivalent of ink's tv with some of the home theaters i've seen. :lol

Talking about $250,000 spent just on the sound system! :horror :thud:
