Probably won't be long before you can either go to the theater or steam a new movie for $19.99 at home......although they'd lose money to viewing parties so maybe not.
$50 per viewing...ouch. In line with what you'll end up spending at a theater, but still.

It cost me $15 total yesterday to see ST:Beyond with popcorn and a drink.
My biggest problem with the cost now is the popcorn sucks and AMC theaters don't have Pepsi. I love the popcorn/Pepsi combo. Not sure what changed because movie theater popcorn used to be really good. It might just be AMC, but that seems to be who owns most the theaters anymore.
I'd love a way to watch movies at home while they are in theaters. I'm trying to find a way...
AMC (China) bought out our Carmike theaters. I usually go to the Cinemark when I can. It's cheaper and their popcorn is pretty good, though I don't get that butter stuff on mine. BLAH!
I like the big screen experience myself.
That article mentions that AMC will soon be acquiring Carmike Cinemas, but in my area, AMC was blocked from purchasing Carmike over monopoly concerns. Where I live, Carmike is popular for their $5 movies before 5 p.m., if you want to see a $5 movie at AMC, you need to go to the very first showing, usually around 9 a.m.
