Remember pong! My friends and I went crazy over that game when it first came out. That bouncing ball was the best.

Yep! We had whatever game system came before Atari 2600. Basically all it was was 4 variations on Pong, including Tennis and a breakout type game. Still it was fun, we didn't know any better.

Alright, everyone ready for the fate of 3D?

News out of CES 2017 is......

3D is officially dead, all tv makers have dropped their support for the format from their 2017 models instead focusing on HDR.

Theatrical will obviously continue.

It will get alot harder to find a 3D tv if you're in the market for a new tv, it's already difficult now.

Seriously, WTF.

Not that i'm surprised but I was holding out hope for a comeback even if just an option on the high end models, but nope not even on those.

Instead we're getting selfie drones that follow you and constantly take photos of your face.

Lets see what the future holds but great job abandoning the customers who have bought 3D movies.

Hold on to your current 3D tv.

Boooo

Sony has a tv that sends audio thru the screen. seriously Sony who the hell wants their screen to freaking vibrate while watching it?!

But 3D....ohhh no can't have that even though customers own dozens of 3D movies!

I'll still buy 3D movies since I own 3D tvs but your mileage may vary depending on your current tv needs

Obviously not enough 3D movies were bought to save the format, disc or streaming.

This guy was complaining to me this morning that he wants helmet free VR.

I told him to go walk around the Ferrari dealership if he wants a virtual experience without wearing a helmet.

Well some people will be happy...

Virtual reality is going to get scary in 2017: The Fox Innovation Lab and filmmaker Ridley Scott have teamed up to make an “Alien: Covenant” virtual reality (VR) experience.

The experience will be available as a paid title on major VR platforms. There’s no word on an exact release date yet, but it’s worth noting that “Alien:Covenant” the movie will be released in May

Right now VR is being labeled a dud at CES 2017. :lol

Never even experienced it yet. To me it will be like 3D....won't watch it as my main way of watching movies, but it will be fun as a "treat" and a different experience once in a while.

Very disappointing. Watching most 3D movies in 2D is no different than pan & scan to me. I have a large catalog of not only 3D movies for myself but also quite a few eye-popping animated films for my kids. I'll be holding on to my current TV until it dies then.

Yup, sad news on the 3D front.
But I guess they need to remove it now, so that in 5 years, they can re-release it as new technology... again!

Disappointing, my Daughter loves 3D and will be very sad.
