**** these guys wanting to kill 3D. Does that mean I won't be able to buy the current SW trilogy or Fantastic Beasts movies in 3D down the road? :gah:

That's a great point Darth and unfortunately that just might be the case.

If those projects were being considered, well not anymore.

I'm very open to revisiting movies we have enjoyed for ages but in 2D converted into 3D.

I don't see the harm, for those that want to just watch the regular 2D version then go right ahead.

Seeing catalog titles in 3D is like experiencing a movie all over again.

Just like with Jurassic Park I would love 3D OT SW, especially if they released the originals non SE in 2D and 3D!

Who am I kidding I would so buy the OT SE in 3D as well. :lol

The unedited Star Wars will probably never be seen again unless you have a Harmy set

Depends on the deal Disney made with Lucas. Believe me, Disney will release it if they can. That's a ton of money they'll make.

With 3D going away studios better damn well start adding IMAX aspect ratios to 2D movies (something no studio has done aside from TDK/TDKR which weren't 3D to begin with.)

The 2D version had the expanded ratio? Not just the 3D disc? Definitely not a movie that will ever find its way on my shelf for me to check. :lol

I never even knew that Revenge of the Fallen had the alternate ratios. I didn't think that other studios followed suit until after TKDR.

Actually it might've just been the 3D Walmart exlusive that had it.

The forest battle is pretty amazing to watch in that ratio though.

I always loved it when Shia yelled Optimus, sometimes I even catch myself doing that throughout the day, it's so much fun.

Now about 3D coming to an end, that's the thing Khev, it's only coming to an end on the hardware front, movies WILL CONTINUE TO BE RELEASED IN 3D! :slap

That's the insanity of it all! :lol

Yes, very crazy. :lol

A few years from now when my 3D TV starts acting up I'll be all "come on baby hold together..."

Some in the Hunger Games series, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and Tron Legacy also have it.

Ah yes I don't own any of those films but I remember that the Catching Fire blu-ray did expand the ratio when Catniss goes up the tube and sees the arena for the first time.

Khev's kid: Dad, this bucket of bolts never gonna get us past the next movie!

Khev: This baby's still got a few surprises left in her!

Khev's Kids: "No IMAX ratio?"

Khev: "It's not my fault!"

"jye how do you know that 3D had been discontinued? CES 2017? jye you know better than to trust a strange tradeshow announcement!"
