Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)
Man oh man why does everyone think that just because the '89 Batmobile is more streamlined that it makes it easier to produce and manufacture than the Tumbler Batmobile?
I'm sure they both have the same designers, the same crew, the same sculptors, the same painters and the same workers. People can only speculate if one costs more than the other to make and build or which one is more difficult.
The '89 Batmobile isn't just a plastic block on wheels. You have the turbine, the canopy windshield, individual hubcaps, the vents, the piping on the sides. Then it has all those details in the cockpit, more details than the Tumbler has. There's also the fact that the '89 Batmobile is longer and larger (if these are both accurately 1/6 scale). Then think of all the curved pieces that they have to produce (molds) as opposed to the flat, rectangular ones of the boxy Tumbler.
The Tumbler Batmobile may have more parts to put together with all those panels and the spoiler but that doesn't mean it costs any less or any more. If the '89 Batmobile has actual functioning "pop up" guns with a spring mechanism of some sort, plus the electronic lights, PLUS all those features (the shinbreakers, the disks, the machine guns, the ammo, the grappling hooks) we've seen then I'd say they're pretty much even in whatever it is we're comparing.
It's just like when people saw Iron Monger or the Iron Man and said, "wow, the Batmobile vehicles must be more". It has no bearing at all because we don't know anything about the labor or what it takes to make these things.
