Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I remember when I first unpackaged it back in mid 2009. It makes a 24 inch screen look small.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

think I'm gonna keep my order with BBTS, better price and the shipping is $40.

I like the way they shipped it last time too, it came shipped not only in the HT brown shipping box, then in another brown shipping box.

And, yes as a former owner of this piece, it IS a beast.

I'm still shocked really that they are re-releasing it. But, very happy.

I would so love to get this but I don't have the room. I'd have to put Jabba and the throne away.... well.... that may be an idea. :)

For me it took a second person to help take it out of the box safely so nothing would get broken. It's bulky but so fragile due to intricate parts and things easily to get caught on.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I may eventually get this but in no particular hurry as this is not a limited special release like the batman begins figure. So it will be around for a long time, i will just wait until it's actually shipped and try to pick it up from ebay for cheaper, if that doesnt work can always order it then.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

Man oh man why does everyone think that just because the '89 Batmobile is more streamlined that it makes it easier to produce and manufacture than the Tumbler Batmobile?

I'm sure they both have the same designers, the same crew, the same sculptors, the same painters and the same workers. People can only speculate if one costs more than the other to make and build or which one is more difficult.

The '89 Batmobile isn't just a plastic block on wheels. You have the turbine, the canopy windshield, individual hubcaps, the vents, the piping on the sides. Then it has all those details in the cockpit, more details than the Tumbler has. There's also the fact that the '89 Batmobile is longer and larger (if these are both accurately 1/6 scale). Then think of all the curved pieces that they have to produce (molds) as opposed to the flat, rectangular ones of the boxy Tumbler.

The Tumbler Batmobile may have more parts to put together with all those panels and the spoiler but that doesn't mean it costs any less or any more. If the '89 Batmobile has actual functioning "pop up" guns with a spring mechanism of some sort, plus the electronic lights, PLUS all those features (the shinbreakers, the disks, the machine guns, the ammo, the grappling hooks) we've seen then I'd say they're pretty much even in whatever it is we're comparing.

It's just like when people saw Iron Monger or the Iron Man and said, "wow, the Batmobile vehicles must be more". It has no bearing at all because we don't know anything about the labor or what it takes to make these things.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I don't think I can pull off this and the 89 Batmobile. I think 89 will win. But this is pretty awesome news.

You've forgotten what SSF does? :violin

.......

I don't think anyone can appreciate the size of this thing until they see it in person and actually lift it.

We kind of take these 24 inch, 15 inch, screens or what have you for granted. These "small" pics. In person though, it's an entirely different experience, I'm sure.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I really want this but not sure who to order from. Is SS the only ones that offer flex payments?

Wide legs for a start.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

holy crap, my poor wallet is reeling. just pre-ordered the batmobile on flex from alterego, and also just bought the battle rage king leonidas statue from arh. its christmas in january :yess:

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

As much as 89 is iconic and THE Batman car for me, the Tumbler is the car Batman really needs.

Yeah, I agree, the Tumbler is more brutal....

although...the Tumbler Batmobile blew up and crashed through a few walls, and pancaked a few cop cars.

The 1989 Batmobile shot a door for itself, then blew up a damn factory.

Hmmm...

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

Now my question is... will there be another Batman figure? I want to buy this but I don't have a Batman figure yet.

The Tumbler's got hops, I'll give it that. It should try out for a basketball team or something.

The '89 Batmobile on the other hand has friggin machine guns, bombs, and is nigh indestructible!

However, they both lose to this guy,

Now I don't know what it does exactly but hey, it's got RAINBOWS.
