This is riddled with inaccuracies. US retailers can't order direct from Hot Toys, because Hot Toys chose Sideshow as their sole US distributor. Not because Sideshow won't let them. And insisting that "NOTHING is stopping our favorite US retailers from importing" InArt figures that are only licensed for sale in Asia. Really? Do you really think InArt is going to wholesale figures they can't legally retail in the US directly to retailers in the US? Risk losing those licenses altogether, etc. etc. That's not how licensing works mate. But it doesn't matter. Hot Toys isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and I doubt their relationship with Sideshow is either.

At no point did I say US retailers can order direct from Hot Toys. We all know they can't. But you said it yourself, you can buy from multiple points in the supply chain. So US retailers are free to source from whoever/wherever they please for whatever reason (Cheaper cost, earlier release, exclusives, etc) however if you also work with Sideshow, they will shut you out COMPLETELY if you do. If you're an online only US retailer (Businesses that Sideshow doesn't work with) and have no choice but to import Hot Toys from a reseller or through any other means, Sideshow will go after them with bs c&d. After some time, these retailers just give up. At one point they even tried to shut down individuals/businesses from selling Hot Toys on ebay..

I never said US retailers can order direct from Inart or even suggested that Inart would be stupid enough to wholesale to US retailers. I know how licensing works. Again retailers can source from multiple points in the supply chain. So US retailers can ABSOLUTELY import from resellers in China/HK who get it from the official distributor or just import from retail shops in China/HK and resell. That's how business works mate. Nothing is stopping them from doing this. I've seen plenty of Asia exclusive products being imported into the US for sale by these US retailers. Unfortunately for those that work with Sideshow, they can't do this for certain brands because Sideshow doesn't want retailers offering products that compete with their exclusive offerings. So continue working with Sideshow and not carry certain brands or choose to carry the brand(s) and get shut out of Hot Toys and any other brand they exclusively distribute. Then like I said before, if you find another way to get Hot Toys, they'll go after your entire business. Sucks for US retailers and collectors :huh

And I never said Hot Toys is going anywhere. Just that not everyone will always want to buy everything they offer. They will be just fine.

I'm on the fence with this one, as I'd really like to get it, but if Keaton's Bat-Computer is going to be solicited soon, Keaton wins that contest every time. (I'm hoping it comes with Bruce in his turtleneck look.)

I like the Bale figure, but do wish it was articulated. The armory itself looks as good as I could hope, and I would like to display it next to my TDK set, but I just can't afford to buy two of these at this price point in one year. Plus, I'm sure I'll want a Keaton from Flash if Hot Toys makes him.

These statements are at odds with each other. How can everything be completely different and also just be the same things thrown into a different setting?

TDKR isn’t original. It just smashes Begins and TDK together, the Batcave is no exception.

In Begins I love the idea that it was a hidden tunnel used in the Underground Railroad. The piano entrance, the cage elevator, the old wardrobe used to store the batsuit, it was all grounded.

The Dark Knight Batbunker pushes the technology. I thought it was clever how they used a Wayne Enterprises cargo yard and the cargo container is the new entrance to the Batcave. It made sense now that his base was right in the heart of the city (like the penthouse). Every other movie/tv show/cartoon has it under Wayne Manor, this was the first time they thought outside the box since Wayne Manor no longer existed.

What’s new about Rises’ cave? What was
the improvement to the foundation in the southeast wing?? Oh wow, platforms that RISEEE. A foundation that Bruce Wayne can kick with his super leg (which is hilariously included with the statue). The revealing base, computer and armory coming out of the pool is impractical and the equipment doesn’t look as cool as it does in TDK. The secret entrance isn’t enough, you need hidden floors too? It just comes off as gaudy. Like that scene in Batman Forever where Riddler goes down into the Batcave and everything turns on (INTRUDER ALERT). It’s like they just invented it for the sole purpose of ending it with John Blake finding it in the waterfall and RISING. It’s lame.

You can have your dew paint on cheap acrylic walls that are going to yellow in a few years, I’ll stick with my cooler concrete cage.

The TDK Armory is way cooler looking anyway. The folding tool drawers, the cage, it’s awesome. It has way more doodads too, my favorite being the blow guns and ninja nunchakus. Not only does it look cool, there’s tons of value packed into it.

Never liked the TDKR Armory. It’s minimalism at its worse. There’s nothing visually interesting about it. The acrylic/plexiglass look makes it appear cheap and I get Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet or Stadium Rafter/Sports Complex vibes from it. What do you get? A couple of batarangs, grapple guns, and gas canisters. Where is his rebreather for underwater missions? Where does the EMP rifle and Sticky bomb guns go, why don’t they fit? The nice thing about the TDK one is the amount of extras built into the design. He had multiple spare belts, weapons and gadgets which is in character with how obsessive Batman would be. TDKR’s just isn’t that. The whole thing feels like an after thought. His Batcave was so disappointing after waiting 7 years to see it rebuilt. All they did was take the components of TDK’s Batbunker and throw them into the Begins Batcave. RISE platforms and all.

I’m glad it was released for the people that want one though. I know how it feels to wait over a decade for Hot Toys to finally get their asses in gear. I don’t think sales are going to be the best, but I hope it gets the 1989 Batcave greenlit. I want those computers and hopefully the Suit Vault Armory. That thing is the genesis for all movie Batmen and looks awesome. Before all the fancy underwater platforms, movie Batman used to keep his gear in a vault. It’s minimalism and simplicity . . . done right.

The Schumacher and Snyder ones were too ostentatious, like it was a museum piece on display for Batman to show his friends. The ‘89 and TDK ones were the most practical.
And the Batman begins "Armory" ? :)

In the TDK the armory is very minimalist too. I'm a fan of the trilogy so i love them all.

I like the wardrobe too. Like he went up to one of the rooms in Wayne Manor and pulled it out. I mentioned it in the post above.

Can’t say the same about TDKR.

It was supposed to be a return to the cave, you know the BATCAVE? They made improvements that were mentioned in Begins. Were you expecting a different batcave location in each movie or you wouldn't be satisfied? The people who still hate on rises 11 years later always had the weirdest expectations.

What's new is this is the first batcave where everything can be completely hidden in the event that the cave is discovered. It's all designed to be functional and water proof. No one else has ever even tried to address the risk of someone accidentally or purposely finding the batcave, so that was an original idea that I liked a lot.

How can you whine about something being too minimalist AND too gaudy? The Schumacher and Snyder batcaves were gaudy, none of TDK ones were.

The equipment is minimalist (the armory), the platforms themselves rising out of the water is gaudy.

I never said have it in a different location, I think you could have had the equipment it in the recesses of the cave walls instead. They don’t even show the upper foundation again in TDKR (where you see him in Begins making the batarangs/spraying the suit/Alfred smashing the cowls. You could have had a crime lab up there or something. Instead we get everything housed in the little lake that looks like the cheapest, uninspired environment I’ve ever seen.

I’m sorry, this looks like a set, studio lights and all.

I would be down for the wardrobe. Imagine the outcry if they include an updated batsuit as a full figure + the empty suit for the wardrobe :lol Either that or just wardrobe + empty suit + Bruce Wayne

Yeah its a set, the same set from Begins that you liked. Only part of the cave is even visible in this shot, only what he needs rises from the water. There's at least one more platform and the armory. You do see the foundation in the movie a few times but it's unclear what all may be up there.

Why do Rises haters almost always have bizarre expectations and completely miss aspects of the film that were there?

Cuz it’s not good.

My expectations were pretty low when they were filming in Pittsburgh and had the Steelers in the movie. Then when I saw the Bane on a Plane sequence in IMAX with an unintelligible villain and shoddy editing, I knew what I was going to be in for.

You talk about haters, but I see fans that loved the first two and were passionate, ultimately disappointed and frustrated with the “Epic Conclusion”

That's just your opinion and it's in contrast to the consensus. There's nothing technical wrong with the prologue that made it into the final cut. The truth is the film is as consistent in quality as the first two, probably a bit better put together than Begins.

Rises is easily much better received by critics and audiences than anything before TDK films or after. I remember when it was released, and just like TDK it infected the public consciousness for years and in a way no Batman film before or since has. Generally, people loved it.

Some people simply aren't capable of fairly assessing a final installment in a trilogy. They bring too many expectations in the theater with them then they're too stubborn to see what's in front of them instead of all they imagined that isn't.

And that’s your opinion. That’s what all this stuff is.

People can come in and say they like or don’t like something without caring what the almighty reviews or metrics say. Which leads me to,

Yeah good, let them. We’re not talking about those people or sites in here, are we? I don’t care if everyone on the planet thought TDKR was a masterpiece, I still think it’s a goofy flick. If you need that sort of reassurance that a movie you like is quality, well, have at it. I like plenty of things that are both “highly acclaimed” and trashy. I found out a long time ago that not everyone is going to like what I like.

Some people simply aren't capable of fairly assessing a final installment in a trilogy. They bring too many expectations in the theater with them then they're too stubborn to see what's in front of them instead of all they imagined that isn't.

On the flip side to that, I think there were fans, (young, impressionable fans) that were going to love the movie, regardless of what quality, or lack thereof, was thrown up on the screen.

For me and the people that feel like I do, it’s a silly movie. The villain is a dumb, unintelligible cuck, that has been meme’d to death until he was ultimately forgotten. Hathaway is phoning it in doing her best Julie Newmar impersonation. The side characters are boring, with Robin Blake being the most dull of all of them. The main man himself, Bale, is at his goofiest and worst as Batman, something he has admitted to not being proud of and wanting to do better.

You like it, that’s great. I personally like 2/3 of that. You can have your megaton clean energy bomb and Italy/Cafe ending with that kid from 500 Days of Summer finding the Batcave and I can have mine where Batman rides off into the night on the Batpod.

Of course you’re going to love TDKR, you’re a hardcore Bale/Nolan Batman fan. It’s your thing. You’re allowed to be biased because hey, that’s your bag man. You live and breathe this stuff. I got different things that I personally can’t see the flaws to and put up on a pedestal, I get it.

That’s what all this stuff is.
Consensus isn't an opinion. You state your opinions like they're a consensus.
I don’t care if everyone on the planet thought TDKR was a masterpiece.
Then why do you make a point to trash it in every thread related to it? Do you need that type of reassurance to know you still hate it? I have news for you, you're in a thread where most of us have more than a passing interest in a $600 toy based on an 11 year old "not good" movie.

On the flip side to that, I think there were fans, (young, impressionable fans) that were going to love the movie, regardless of what quality, or lack thereof, was thrown up on the screen.
Yeah all the millions of people who loved it were young impressionable people who lack the life experience that only you have.

megaton clean energy bomb
If this is supposed to imply the type of bomb described in the movie is unrealistic... reality has some news for you. A vehicle with the speed demonstrated by the Bat could have easily gotten the bomb as described far enough from the city, and Batman, for things to play out as seen. Neutron bombs are real and they work as depicted in the film: Neutron bomb - Wikipedia

The villain is a dumb, unintelligible cuck, that has been meme’d to death until he was ultimately forgotten.
I think the casual sexism in this statement tells me all I need to know about you. If Rises is disliked by people who think working with a woman as an equal makes you a dumb cuck then that's one more reason I DO like it. I also don't think you understand memes.

These Nolan Batman threads never cease to be the same over and over especially if anyone has anything negative to say about them :lol
There, fixed it.

I believe Nolan always has a movie that triggers our most blatantly hateful instincts. For me it’s Interstellar. For most, Tenet. For some, TDKR.
