I would assume that if the film industry uses that company to obtain information they use for important decisions, then the polling was done competently enough. There are standards done for polling of that sort that attempt to account for the fact that you get non-random samples.

Interesting info. It could be true I just have a hard time rolling with people in north dakota being that affected by those events.

These companies also select pollers to get a desired statistic as well. They used to do it all the time at malls with movie theatres. :lol

Why do I suddenly feel as if I've journeyed back into the cold, dark, dank, garbage-strewn, cheeto-infested basement of a long forgotten online forum?

"You know... you remind me of STARWARS.com. I HATED STARWARS.com!"

"Research firm NRG -- which film companies use to track interest in their movies -- has informed its clients that 20 percent to 25 percent of the moviegoing audience is hesitant to make a trip to the cinema because of last week's tragedy during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises."

You might as well quit my friend. Nam doesn't think anyone has the right to disagree with him.

i pray that the next batman series has atleast one person or batman himself referring to his name "the goddam batman"

A missed opportunity on Nolan's part. TDKR had the perfect opening when Foley says he's gonna do what Gordone never could."Catching the [God damn] Batman!"

Lol.

To be fair, the first interrogation was quite sound. But yeah, the Joker and Bane scenarios were kind of pushing it. Although, at least the Joker's was highly entertaining.

Flass, Joker and Bane beatdowns were among the best moments of the entire trilogy for me :lecture

That's possible. I know that political candidates will sometimes ask loaded questions to get a desired response so they can promote their BS agendas. But wofford said they were polling for their "clients," which seems to be the film companies themselves. If that was the case, and this wasn't done for the purpose of trying to excuse the numbers to the public so much as letting those companies know why something happened so they might try to step up their marketing efforts or whatever, then it could be objective.

10% or 25%, there's no doubt the shootings had an impact on US numbers.

I originally thought it would get to about $500MM US (short of $533MM for TDK), but post tragedy I think $450 is the most it could get to, but will likely be somewhere between $400-450MM.
International though is pretty much unimpacted. TDK made about $470MM outside the US. I think TDKR will get in the region of $600MM.

Total will be $1.05-$1.1 billion, slightly above TDK, which i've predicted all along and am sticking to.

Yeah, in the end I thought it would end up around TDK (picked tdkr to finish #3 in the box office in a game between friends of FB). After the avengers did so well and the hype that was built around tdkr I started to think it would do better than TDK by a decent amount. The shooting hurt some but I think with these films being so serious this might be the ceiling on Nolan's batman films.

I wish there was a tracking system for raw ticket sales rather than just money intake. It takes 4 viewings in regular to equal the sales of one 3D ticket at my theatre.

#3 after Hobbit and Avengers?

I agree there is somewhat of a ceiling for these films given the fact they are not as family friendly as say an Avengers or Avatar.
