Research shows that the shooting had a second weekend effect of 20-25% of people still not wanting to go to theaters. That's the 2nd weekend numbers so at best you're looking at the same percentage for Saturday and Sunday numbers of opening weekend and week and the more than likely scenario of if being an even higher percentage that tapered to 25% by the second weekend.

Foreign Box office is doing better than TDK so overall it's pretty neck and neck

I'm holding fort - walking into my 4th now :lol

:yess:

Fact check

I said US Box Office will be lower than TDK but foreign will be higher, and overall will be higher

Still on track :wave

Go Foreigners :yess:

Devil FTW

:lecture

Nam, chef jyecat will be preparing the crow for ya

Nam,

ketchup or mustard. :lol

Fact check: The Dark Knight was in theaters for two hundred and thirty-one days.

Hell, even Green Lantern would've posted decent numbers if it had been in release that long. :rolleyes:

:slap

Yeah, that's the ticket. The only thing GL did wrong was they didn't give it enough time to catch on! Bastards.

:rotfl

I don't buy the shooting hurting the BO nationwide that much. I'm sure there was some fall back from it but I don't think it was the $35 million difference between projections and where it ended up. It fell of over 60% last weekend here in the states and by now most folks have moved on from that event.

I'm on the fence with the box office impact from this trajedy. :(

Agreed. I enjoyed Avengers more and watched it 4 times, none to try and help boost sales, i only went back cause i enjoyed the film so much. I will see TDKR again but twice is enough, i think i got everything i wanted from the first viewing with this film.
I thought about going to see Avengers again, but no one else wants to go, so meh. Still got a friend who hasn't seen TDKR yet, so just gotta wait for him to get off his ass, lol. I'd go by myself, but movies are always better with a friend, family, or significant other.

Its from the special edition; extra track number 16;

Risen from darkness is the music played when he is on the batpod/Catwoman breaking into daggets safe

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv951rIUG84

Heres my two favourites;

Shadows Betray You. Has a real dark vibe to it! And ofcourse, its an epic BANE track! 3mins 39 it has an epic version of the 'im not a hero' violin bit which I adored.

Also, have this track playing on a predator map in AC. Its. Perfect.

And 'no stone unturned' this is the full suite of Bats/Cats chasing Talia and the tumblers all the way to Batman flying out to sea with the bomb and everyone watching;

Okay, where do I get the special edition soundtrack? Is it download only somewhere? I can't seem to find it, and I was quite surprised that first track was not on the cd. I'd really like these tracks in high quality, where can I buy them?

I couldnt tell you mate. I dunno where. The only thing I could do is just use a youtube audio converter until I buy the album. I couldnt buy the TDK special edition with Rorys first kiss tracks etc.

Im waiting to see if it gets a UK release

What research is that? Wofford's speculation? :lol

I was the opposite. I saw Avengers twice ... my wife and I saw it, then I took the kids to see it. I'd have been just as happy seeing it once and waiting for DVD ... but it was a good movie for the kiddos.

I'm not taking the kids to see TDKR -- its too long, and not as visually stimulating as Avengers (my boy is 4 -- he doesn't stay put through dialogue or plot exposition all that well). But, I want to see TDKR again just for myself. My wife has said she wants to see it again as well.

To each his own.

I really think any big difference in the box office can be attributed entirely to (1) the child-friendliness of the movie, and (2) the shooting. TDKR is just a more adult-oriented fare. Its is more serious, more grueling (plot wise), has more dialogue, and is just generally less colorful. I'll let my kids see it ... and they'll like it (they liked BB and TDK). But, keeping small kids continuously interested and sitting in a theater seat throughout a three-hour movie is another story entirely. Avengers mostly did. I don't think TDKR would, though.

I'm curious as to what research. Was there an actual poll done? I'd truly like to see the numbers from that poll.

"Research firm NRG -- which film companies use to track interest in their movies -- has informed its clients that 20 percent to 25 percent of the moviegoing audience is hesitant to make a trip to the cinema because of last week's tragedy during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises."

:lol You're better than that. It doesn't specify how many people were polled or what types of people (they could be light-fearing internet shut-ins for all we know). It also states that the same people said they wouldn't be going to the "multiplex" meaning movies in general, not just TDK. But it looks like they're using "meh" releases that didn't match their projected earnings (which are all hypothesis anyway) as a foundation for their article yet admit that Adam Sandler's Ted has proven a success which contradicts said whole article. :lol Hardly what I'd call a "credible" source.

What was the name of that early 90s band? They had an album called Pocket Full of Kryptonite?

So you didn't see the contradiction in that article? Every movie but Ted is doing poorly. If the shooting had affected the box office that badly, why is Ted so successful?

It didn't say every movie but Ted was effected. It said R rated comedies had have a hard time this summer with the exception of Ted which was released awhile back. It's not saying that Ted was doing well through all this. It's comparing an R rated comedy that has stood out this summer vs. the other R rated comedies.

edit: Just saw your post above.

Worth noting, the week after that shooting Ted's numbers did drop off per day until the following weekend. But that could simply be due to the movie running its course since it had been out almost a month at that point. :dunno

I hear ya. Honestly though, TDK hasn't kept away the audience who'd normally go and see it. Some people put some very unrealistic expectations on it and now they're gunning for any excuse to explain why that didn't happen, instead of just enjoying a great movie. :lol
