Bruce's final sacrifice was so poignant that I think it would be cool if Nolan pulled a "Blade Runner" and released a second version of the movie where he doesn't go off with his girl (like the original BR) but instead have the movie end with him dying. I get why he lived, and it was totally "Batman" for him to have a contingency but there's something about the hero who goes down with the ship to ensure victory. I'm looking at you Cap. :D

Has Nolan announced how the Joker was originally planned to play in TDKR? Was he supposed to more or less fulfill Bane's role or would they have gone in a totally direction entirely from the plot that we ended up with?

novel;

“Now that the Dent Act had made it all but impossible for the city’s criminals to cop an insanity plea, it (Blackgate Prison) had replaced Arkham Asylum as a preferred location for imprisoning both convicted and suspected felons. The worst of the worst were sent here, except for the Joker, who, rumor had it, was locked away as Arkham’s sole remaining inmate. Or perhaps he had escaped. Nobody was really sure. Not even Selina.”

Bruce dying is a cop-out. Glad they didn't do that.

Yeah, that would have been uber lame. Batman would never do that as he would do what he did get out just in time. Actually, it got a little annoying the being hit over the head with nolan keep sending signals he might kill Batman. By the end I was almost at the point of just kill him already and put us out of our misery. :lol I'm glad he didn't mind you.

Thanks for posting that but it just tells how the Joker was explained to fit into THIS story. I'm curious to know what the original plan for the character might have been. I believe Nolan went on record shortly after Ledger's death as saying the Joker was supposed to play prominent in Part 3 and that at the time he wasn't sure if he'd feel up to the task of re-envisioning Act III of the Dark Knight trilogy.

I want my money back for false advertising.

Batman never did this :tap

Finally saw it last night,I wasn't impressed.I'm watching it again now,maybe it will be better the 2nd time.

You know... and I'm not saying this to be trite or facetious... this is genuine... if Nolan's Batfilms were half as deep and complex as void's interpretive analysis are they very well would have earned the "masterpiece" label many Nolancompoops ascribe them.

You do realize the fact that you use "Nolancompoop" kinda voids any real value your statement might have had.:wink1:

Uhh... yes they did!

Whether real or fake, that would have been great and could have been done without Ledger. A shame Nolan was such sap and completely avoided even a simple mention of the character. That will always be a huge flaw in this film to me.

Such a shame he lost a friend, and felt distraught about him. ____ HIM FOR HAVING EMOTIONS! :lol

Yeah, same here. I think it was the first swing and miss for this movie for me by pretending the joker didn't happen. He set the events in motion that had batman go into retirement and you don't even give the character that little nod.

Don't get me wrong heaths job as the joker was fresking amazing but he doesn't own the role it's ok to use the character again.

^ Not for this series it wasn't. He owned this role, and it was his, and his alone.

Next series, it's whoever takes up the mantle.
