I may be seeing TA again this weekend myself. Disney is putting it back in more theaters over the holiday week. I guess its one last push before DVD! (and a final 1.5 billion for the global BO! :yess:)

I can appreciate the differences between Avengers and TDKR.

Hulk smashing Loki is being hailed as the best, most fun moment of 2012, not just for summer movies but superhero movies in general.

I didn't require multiple viewings to comprehend that, it was a purely viceral lol moment that holds up to multiple viewings.

TDKR simply did not have a scene of that kinetic nature, it was more of a slow burn, and that's fine.

Maybe the sewer fight comes close.

What i'm getting at is that it's ok for TDKR to require multiple viewings to appreciate all the layers involved in the same manner that it's ok for Avengers to not require multiple viewings to appreciate a Hulk smashing Loki scene.

Both movies brought their A game to the table.

Ok, maybe TDKR brought its A minus game.

Well put. :goodpost:

If the sewer fight between Bats and Bane had been a bit more give-and-take, I would've put it right up there with Hulk and Loki. But it was just too once-sided to trigger the "epic" scale.

A prepubescent Voorhees, absolutely! :lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly:

:lol

Agreed - wonder if they'll do a extended soundtrack release with this on it - great track. From what was on the OST, "Why do We Fall" is easily my favorite...just wish it was longer.

I've seen TDKR 4 times (twice in IMAX) Enough for me until December.

I can't believe there is actually Oscar talk for this film across all the message boards. It's seems like TDKR "ended" a few weeks ago. It's over, it's done. The bubble expanded and finally burst.

I've seen a lot of forced comparisons to Lord of the Rings and it all seems artificial. The argument that fans have fabricated behind this notion is that, Return of the King took a clean sweep after the previous films were "snubbed". There's also the argument that TDK opened the door for 10 nominations and was the first comic book film to win an Oscar.

Uhhhh,

1. I'm pretty sure the Fellowship won 4 Oscars and the Two Towers won 2? How many did Begins and TDK win? 2? Begins didn't win jack ****.

It seems the only reason TDKR is being compared to Return of the King is because, A. Fans are convinced that the film is Oscar worthy and B, there are three Batman films now from this modern series "oooooh, TRILOGY".

2. While TDK's Oscar wins (Ledger and Sound Editing) were impressive, it wasn't the first comic book movie to win at the Oscars.

Batman did that in 1989 and so did **** Tracy in 1990.

3. If TDKR is sooooooo good shouldn't it be judged on it's own worth (stand alone) and not the worth of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight?

What has this movie done that is worthy of "OSCAHS" (other than technical nods)? Am I blind? Have I failed to see the point? Why do the fans care or want them so bad? It's like people have run out of things to talk about with this movie so they're clinging onto a chance with awards. But it's not their award? Dunno. I think the craziest thing I've seen is "Tom Hardy deserves a nomination for his portrayal of Bane". Really? Are people serious? I mean granted I dislike the character and performance so there's a bias there, but it's really award worthy?

He seems more suitable for a Razzie award to me, especially with that voice.
