One of the things I wonder about is that funeral scene with Alfred's whole, "I failed you" schtick. The Alfred of comics Batman is often seen to be a superb actor. Could he have been in on it all along? He certainly doesn't seem too taken aback in the cafe when he spots Bruce.

(apologies if this has already been mentioned)

If that were true, he wouldn't have gotten hard nipples and blushed in the cafe. :nono

I love returns but I hated that whole Penguin taking over the Batmobile scene. it was so ridiculous, but it was such a pure comic-book like incident. It still annoys me when I watch the film, because I just think its silly outside the pages of a comic book.

I hate that scene too. I was always "wtf?" about how Penguin had the blueprints for the Batmobile. :cuckoo: :lol

The scene feels really out of place.

I know it was such a retarded scene. I mean how did penguin build a childs batmobile machine big enough to fit his fat arse in anyway?

I remember seeing the teaser trailer and the way they edited it made it seem like the Penguin jacked Batman's Batmobile and was riding around in it. I really thought he was just going to steal it.

That little remote control thing was cool, but it would have been cooler if he ____ing stole it like that trailer teased at.

The Penguin's frustration and expression when he loses control over the Batmobile is a great one though.

Love 'em or hate 'em the first two Burton Batman movies were a big deal when they came out in the theaters. Burton's Batman was the only movie I have seen twice on the same day. The best thing about those movies for me is they got me interested in the comics stories a lot more, up until then the only Batman comic I had was Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.

My "Batman and Me" story... I grew up with re-runs of the '66 show, Super Friends, etc. To me that (and an occasional issue of Batman or Detective Comics) were my Batman. Oh, and the Super Powers Collection figures, of course.

In 1986, I was 14 and reading Larry Hama's G.I. JOE RAH comics every month. Then The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen came out so I picked them up with what little money I made from bagging groceries and they broke my brain. In a good way, but still. Then High School stuff, learning to drive, get a car, date girls, etc. came into play so I stopped buying & reading comics for a couple of years. But in 1988 the initial teaser trailer for BATMAN came out when I was working at the local movie theater (see below) and it prompted me to head back to the comic shop for the first time in almost 2 years. I picked up Year One and this "new prestige format Batman comic by the guy who wrote WATCHMEN" (The Killing Joke) and I was hooked for good. The resulting Batmania of 1989 pretty much sealed the deal.
