Who said anything about a plothole ? i just thought it was stupid that batman just gave up for 8yrs and the most curupt city is at peace with crime becuase of the cops. I guess im still looking toward the batman approach and not the realistic nolan approach.

No one ever said crime was completely abolished! Thinking that is ludicrous. Of course there was still crime, and I am sure some criminals jumped at the chance to try something once they saw the Joker do what he did, that doesn't mean Gotham's finest couldn't handle them. Batman took out the main threat at the time. All others preceding him are just thugs. And once again.... these films are supposed to differ from the comics. Some seem to be having to much difficulty understanding that.
