If you even think that folks are in the middle here with those box office numbers then that is ridiculous.....Not a chance of those box office numbers even with middle ground...This film was mostly liked/loved period...no dispute

Because there's never been a person in the world that has paid to see a movie that they ended up feeling "meh" about afterwards? :lol

That's it? No more posty posty? :(

Man, I better start that script and filming and not buy this on blu ray then. I mean, it's not like I've been expressing the same thoughts each and every day since the film debuted? This is like one of my first "**** TDKR" posts in what, a month? It definitely doesn't have as much fervor as it did originally.

And besides, don't we all repeat ourselves and how we feel in some capacity? Think of things you don't like. If the situation or discussion presents it self, don't you say the same stuff?
Are you buying this on Bluray as use for a study of this film or do you normally buy films you dislike/critique/bash...as a study I'll accept that answer and no other...Yes I have critiqued things I've liked and disliked...but no way no how in your particular pinpointing capacity...What you have is great in a way and I bet you can write a freakin mean thesis/book...LOL

I meant most folks...you really do pay attention to every slightest detail dont you...good smart trait...not normal but good to have nonetheless...you knew what I meant there in that post

Sure there are some...but not hundreds of millions of dollars worth for the same film...no way if it was the majority of film goers that rate a film as hated/disliked/middleground film...no way that type of money would be made

I buy every comic movie regardless of my love or hate value for it for two reasons:

1) OCD completionist crap. I loved TDKR, but even if I thought it was the crappiest movie ever made, its already got a space reserved.

2) Support of comic based movie community; I don't have to love something to want comic book movies in general to continue to grow and proliferate.

how did avengers 'destroy' TDKR at the box office ?? avengers was in the amazing fad that is 3D (so made more in overpriced tickets) Nolan doesnt fall for that crap. TDKR was one of if not THE biggest 2D opening of any movie ever.....lets see if Wheddon can make 3 films that are as solid as action packed and as genre defining as Nolan has...

nolan just falls for IMAX, which the tickets are just as equally overpriced :rolleyes2

I've got Batman and Robin on DVD and blu ray and I don't exactly love or feel too strongly about that one. :lol

This will be bought some day, that is for certain. Obviously I don't buy things that I don't love or enjoy, particularly movies, but Batman is a different animal. Soundtracks, movies, books, it must all be bought as long as the features are quality. I've got the art book and manual guide for this film and I think they're great. If there's a set that contains good material like "making of" or featurettes (which is unlikely), it'll be a do want.

This applies differently to say, high end collectibles though. No way would I buy a ****ing Bane for $200 or any TDKR item other than Batman and the Batpod (which appear identically in TDK anyway). Do I have toys from a movie that I don't particularly care for? Yeah, I got a Mattel Movie Masters Bane. But it's different (plus it was bought before I saw the movie).

As far as 1/6 goes, no TDKR items. Exceptions to this rule are DX 12 Batman and the Batpod which I can pretend are from TDK anyway (never display boxes that read "TDKR", never take out snowy base with TDKR label).

:lol

Every post you make about me contains a compliment (smart, brilliant, make a book, write a thesis) but also questions the well being of my mental health.

I like that.

All I know is there really is no way of measuring how other people feel about something other than how you or immediate people you interact with feel. There is no poll to measure everyone's opinions because not everyone is invested.

Yes you do love something...you love comics...and if you have OCD in regards then you have an additional condition on top of your love for comics

And you...obviously love Batman...and are smart too...LOL...I just for myself anyway prefer more simplicity shall we say...I try...try now not to be too picky...sometimes though you gotta...I understand

DiFabio, never stop posting your thoughts and feelings about Batman and movies in general, nothing but full of knowledge and win.

It helps me challenge my own opinions on whatever subject is being discussed.

Holds true for many others on here.

He is a very smart individual...which means a turn off for most of the world's population...I guess that would be another compliment to Difabio..lol

Sacrifice, death, martyrdom, Christ like figure, bawling your damn eyes out with overacting, Batman and Harvey Dent Days, cafes, crappy terrorists that are retreads of the previous movies only worse, bad death scenes . . .

All that's not very Batman. In fact, take out "crappy terrorists" and replace it with "too many villains" and you have Spider-Man 3.

If Batman isn't fighting the mob or other city criminality, isn't fighting a colorful rogues gallery of crazies that treat Arkham like a revolving door and there's no Joker, who cares?

Oh, the end of Bruce Wayne's journey? Bruce Wayne is only interesting when he has mommy, daddy, and childhood issues and dresses up like a Bat as his therapy. If that's no longer happening, Bruce has no reason to exist. Batman is the only reason Bruce should have to live until he's too damn old or dead. Not trying to make your gay, old *****y butler happy or living your life on vacation in an Italian cafe.

That time of the week DiFab? Where you come back to the board just to ***** about TDKR? :lol

:1-1:

LOLwut? It was cheaper for me to see it in IMAX then it was to see it at my local theater. (Carmike Cinemas)

Agreed it's good to hear the other side. But it does tend to get annoying, as it would if Void or I came in here and wrote a 500 word post on why we love the film over and over and over.

Nope, doesn't get old for me.

LOL..It might not be ashes for a long time!...maybe even the proof of how much Batman is loved/obsessed with...hell...maybe even the film truly loved deep down inside...LOL

I agree Difabia. I love Batman. he's a close second to spidey as my favorite hero. Its just that this movie didnt do it for me so I'm not in any rush to buy tdkr figures. I still have my version 1 HT Batman which i would of gladly repleaced if TDKR had a new suit but it didnt. So I will get bane and Catwoman i wont get amother Batman with the same suit and I wont get the Bat since I hate that design so much. Movie just didnt hype me up to buy figures and Limited edition Bluray disc. Avengers on the other hand... welll thats a different story.

Why can't he die and leave his legacy to Blake, then Blake dies and it continues.

Don't worry, BW will continue to live on in the comics and reboots.

With this series it would've been touching with his sacrifice to save Gotham.

Alfred's crying meant nothing to me, it feels flat after you see BW alive.

No, no, no, no, no.

Alfred's feelings were real. We honor them by being moved. The fact that BW turns out to be alive in no way lessens the reality of Alfred's emotions.

In fact when I saw it the second time I was even more moved by Alfred's reaction, because I wasn't so distracted by the knowledge that Batman had just died.

Also, Alfred crying was a big signal that BW wasn't dead. No way were they going to leave us with the bad taste in our mouths of Alfred believing he had failed the Wayne parents. No way. They would have had to give Alfred a very different character arc and reaction if they were really leaving BW dead.

Why does it bug you so much, it's not like I can change the movie, your precious ending is still intact.

Sheesh, bunch of drama queens. :rotfl

One even wants to quit the internet. :slap

All you collect is Batman. And you are happy with your feelings on the film now? You aren't even a little willing to explore the possibility that you are misreading it, or that there is a "better" interpretation?

Personally, I am far more moved by this movie because BW lives. The film gives you both emotions back to back (both the crushing sense of loss and the triumph of the hero truly Rising). The ending couldn't have been better.

Well

him dying from saving Gotham to him immediately retiring after saving Gotham is a very fine line though.

Great, he lived, we always knew that he was cunning and resourceful, but now he's a happy BW.

Isn't a happily retired BW just as lame as a dead BW?

And what exactly is wrong with that? Why don't you want BW happy?

No.

Batman is awesome because he's protecting Gotham for himself. He loves the city. It's his. Dead, he's lost everything. Alive, having left the city in capable hands after defeating its worst enemy (in the context of the films), he can actually enjoy his life now without having to be Batman.

At a certain point, being Batman becomes a sacrifice. He beat the odds.

:goodpost: Well said.

Although you and I have differing views on sacrifice, this ending perfectly rounds out the character study.

I don't mind stories about sacrifice but, in the end, this isn't one of them.

Can't wait for Nolan to come out and say he wanted to kill BW but WB stopped him. :lol

Won't happen. Because it's not true. If you pay attention, the whole movie telegraphs that he will retire and live at the end. Including the title.

You are stuck on a certain version of Batman. I'm glad that (at least for this series) Nolan didn't bow to that version.
