Saw the movie a few hours ago. Like some others, the whole auto pilot thing leaves me scratching my head. So we know Batman fixed the autopilot on the bat and we see him flying the bomb over the water, so when exactly does he eject and let autopilot take over? They clearly show a close up of him still flying it while he's way out over the water. The bomb has a 6 mile blast radius so how did he survive? Even if he's an awesome swimmer, he would drown from the stab wound. It feels like Nolan let this huge plot hole slide, just so the audience can be surprised when we find out Bruce is still alive.

after bane was old enough to go into the general prison populaton, he killed another inmate and the warden threw him in the hole & kept him there for 10 years

I got all that. I was just wondering what he says when he grabs batman in the dark. He yells and it gets a little hard for me to understand.

How do we know Bane isn't born in the pitl? I'm assuming he was indeed born in the same darkness, unless there's something I missed (which is plenty i'm sure, need to see it again).

Just because it was Talia who escaped doesn't mean Bane wasn't born in that prison :dunno

They killed that idea IMO when they said it was talia. At that point he IMO just became some guy who happened to be down there. Nolan killed that part of his backstory again IMO. Obviously, depending on the person this mileage may vary.

If anything it's time for Nolan to win. I think the film will get him nominated at least. We'll see.

It's a pipe dream at best if anyone really thinks he's winning it for this. He will need something like inception to win it in the future.

nolan killed a lot of the whole story...not just bane's :huh

All we know of Bane's history is the rumor Alfred found out that he was "born an raised in hell on earth" and Bane's own statement that he was "born in the darkness". Nothing ever happens that contradicts that or says any different, so where are you getting the idea that because Talia was born down there, Bane wasn't born down there too? The is no "multiple choice" many possibilities origin for Bane like there was for Joker.

Nothing we learn about him in the movie, or even what we learn about Talia, contradicts the statements that he was born in "hell on earth/the darkness"....there is no alternate explanation given for him, so why would you throw those statements out?

How did they manage to bring back the wreckage from the bat? Wouldn't the nuclear bomb have disintegrated it? Especially since it was carrying the bomb. It looked completely intact when they were checking it out and discovered the autopilot had been fixed.

I think there was more than one. That looks like an entirely different Bat to me. It's the unpainted prototype that Lucius showed to Bruce...not the "comes in black" version that Batman was using.

Hey now, the ultra realistic aspects of the movie only apply when the fanboys need an excuse, when it comes to everyone not getting cancer, or Two-Face walking around, or the wreckage, remember its just a movie. :monkey1

Why can Rachel be recast in a heart beat but not Joker?

Just because he overdosed?

That's his problem, not ours, but now the fans have to deal with the makers of TDKR being forced to write a movie set 8 years after TDK just because Heath Ledger couldn't control himself and some misguided self righteous respect for the actor.

That's crap if you ask me.

Anyways, TDKR was between good and great, which means it wasn't bad! :yess:

:slap You're misguided. Go take a close look at yourself in a mirror.

How do you know Batman didn't drop it before it exploded? And helicopters where flown over atomic bomb blasts during military testing. It's entirely feasible it could've survived.

There's a problem when you post that same opinion over and over again just to get reactions off people.

He's human. He needs to know he still exists. Even if he has nothing more to contribute than a redundant negative comment. :lecture Social acknowledgement you see.

The way Nolan pushed things was making it seem like it was Bane that was Born in that hole. That IMO gave Bane so much within the movie then he pulls a fast one and its Talia that was the kid. I couldn't care less if he was born in something similar someplace else. Nolan did nothing to sell that since he was selling the other.

The only thing that switched was the kid. I don't remember them ever saying only one child was ever born there. It was sold to you that way because up until that point the only people informing the audience didn't know anymore than we did. Only Talia and Bane knew the truth and when they got around to it she corrected the story Bruce thought he knew.

But it's quite pointless arguing about where Bruce goes from here, its upto everyone to decide for themselves

No, it's not. Nolan clearly shows us where Bruce goes.

He becomes a tourist in Italy.

It's dark. It's edgy. It's . . . utterly banal. :blissysmi

It also depends if you can separate this Batman from the comics. And since I never read them, nor will plan too, it was easy.

Wannabe.

Poser.

Fraud.

:pfft:

By doing that it diminished part of his back story IMO. Obviously, some of you felt differently but like I said it changed Bane for me a bit. He still was pretty cool as a whole but he was a lot cooler within the story with the back story he had until that scene.

Your English is so bad that you can't type more than a few coherent sentences? Hmm...what a cop out...you just contradicted yourself by typing a perfectly readable post...IN ENGLISH. But seriously, giving you the benefit of the doubt here---why did you avoid void's suggestion? If you have a real thought-out contribution to the discussion ("I could also make you a dissertation in french about why I didnt like the movie") that is too complicated for you to write in clear English...what is stopping you from posting the French version?

I'm gonna step in here and defend void, because apparently to some of you, if he defends himself he is abusing his position as a mod. He said Shai is trolling his opinion with those repeated one-liner, "it sucked"-type, posts. Shai doesn't like getting called out and instead of actually defending his opinion with the reasoning behind it, he cries that void is picking on him as a mod and he's gonna run to tattle to Dave. Abuse as a mod would have been "I don't like your opinion--congratulations, you get an infraction". Saying "I don't like your opinion, I think you're trolling it--here's why" isn't abuse as a mod, you know what it is? It's contributing to the discussion as a fellow poster.

As for the :rotfl:rotfl:lol If you think freaking smilies are abuse, then there is nothing I can say to that except, grow thicker skin.

Yes void called him a troll...AND he backed up his opinion on why he felt that way. You are right...this IS a discussion thread. What exactly do repeated one-liner "it sucked" posts do to contribute to the discussion? You incorrectly assume that void and others who liked this movie are "having a problem with the people that didn't". There are countless examples of fans of this film engaging in discussion/debate with those that didn't like it. I wouldn't call that "having a problem"....back to your point that this is a discussion board: it is "having a discussion". If someone posts that they hated TDKR and they say why, and a TDKR fan responds to and challenges their points, is that "having a problem" in your opinion?

:exactly: Bravo :clap Well said.
