Just saw the movie---very fun ---Not my favorite of the summer.

Was Bruce referring to ____ when he was talking with Alfred about losing someone? Did ____ happen in the missing 8 years

He was talking about Rachel.

What are the blanks?... No need for spoiler tags in the SPOILERS discussion thread. :wink1:

The blanks come in when you try to spell out Grayson's first name. The forum doesn't know you're not talking about someone's _____.

:lol can't even use the correct term.

He didn't know that the reason why he was sent away (given freedom over prison) was that the woman he loved took his place.. They say it in the movie.

How does Talia know who her dad is and how does she find him if,

1. Her mother is killed when she's very young?

2. Her father can't find her or where she's located?

How does she know what to even look for when she escapes the prison? How does she know who she is? She was born there, that's all she knows.

Why wouldn't she be taken, raped and killed by the prisoners? Because she looked like a boy? That wouldn't stop them. Because of her "protector", Bane? They got together as a mob and beat the hell out of him and destroyed his face when he tried to help Talia escape.

Why wouldn't they want some action with 'lil Talia after they were done with the mom?

During the fight scene Bane says, "Oh you think darkness is your ally. You merely adopted the dark; I was born in it. Molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man and by then it was nothing to me but....."

Any help?

after bane was old enough to go into the general prison populaton, he killed another inmate and the warden threw him in the hole & kept him there for 10 years

Box Office numbers leaked: Reliable sources have said TDKR has rang in an estimated 160 Million. Now is this a solid number? im not sure

Maybe it's not that they knew she was a girl that looked like a boy...maybe they really believed she was a boy, and therefore weren't that interested in her sexually. Perhaps the reason they didn't overpower Bane sooner is because they thought it was no big deal that he was protecting a boy...but once he helped "him" escape that really pissed them off...i.e. they weren't motivated to attack him to get at the girl, they were motivated to attack him because he helped someone get out.

Because there's no way a bunch of prisoners would assrape a little boy. :lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly::goodpost:

What I infer from the flashbacks:

Talia is about 6 when her mother is taken. Long enough for her mother to have told her who her father is, who she is.

When her mother is taken Bane immediately grabs Talia to keep her safe. The group that attacks her mother is only 4 or 5 strong, Bane does his best to keep her safe until there's more of the prisoners going after her. Then helps her to escape because he can not fend them off any more.

If they can't climb the walls like she did then they can't catch her.

Doesn't mean he wasn't born in darkness.

He may have been but that darkness in the pit is the darkness that counts as far as this story goes IMO. I could care less if he was bor. in the dark of the streets it doesn't play up the same way it would have if he was that child.

How do we know Bane isn't born in the pitl? I'm assuming he was indeed born in the same darkness, unless there's something I missed (which is plenty i'm sure, need to see it again).

Just because it was Talia who escaped doesn't mean Bane wasn't born in that prison :dunno

Yeah that's what I got but I have to watch those scenes much more closely the 2nd time around. I missed plently

the comics trilogy is nothing like what nolan put up on screen

bruce was already training jean-paul, who was azreal at the time. after bruce's back was broken, he took up an offer from lady shiva to train with her on her home turf. jean-paul filled in as batman until he went nuts

So, did he get Bane back in the comics? I know he's stopped him, but has he ever straight up beaten Bane down since after having his back broken?

If anything it's time for Nolan to win. I think the film will get him nominated at least. We'll see.

I like this movie a ton, but if Nolan couldn't win for the work he did on Inception I don't know if he has a shot to win here.

No they totally would. But, and this is admittedly total speculation here, perhaps their culture and code very strongly frowns upon homosexual acts...even in the desperation for sex--any sex-- of prison.

I can't remember where I read/heard it, but I did once hear that the threat of homosexual rape isn't as big in other world prisons as it is in the US. The "don't drop the soap"/"cellmate named Bubba" is a phenomenon that is most strongly expressed in US prisons. Not to say it doesn't happen around the world too, of course, but it is probably much more frowned upon...especially if that culture is much more strongly against homosexuality in general than American culture is.

Nah, not for TDKR. If it gets nominated, it's only because of them opening up the pool, though if they do that, Avengers has dibs on a spot as well. I think Nolan will nab it later, for a non-superhero movie.

jean-paul beat bane after bruce was injured. that's why he was chosen & not ____ grayson.

oh yeah. batman got his revenge on bane when he took back over :lol they've fought a couple times after that & actually teamed up once later on
