That is funny.......and gross

For you: I didn't watch it right.

For me: They didn't develop his character arc enough. Particularly his connections to Stark, Banner and Thor.

Simples :lol

Are you kidding? :lol

The developed him as well as he needed to be. And even more so in The Avengers. He was the catalyst.

I can't make you think the way you should've...so I digress. :lol

If the film doesn't make me feel something it intends for me to feel then that's a shortcoming of the film, not of me. That's not a hard concept. :lol

That's why different people have different views of any piece of art.

Not necessarily. It's more on the person who's watching, then the filmmakers.

Take it like this as well...when Bond opens up garage to show the DB5 in Skyfall, it fills anyone who knows what that is and the history behind it with the franchise, with excitement.

If you don't know about it...then you won't really get the emotion. If you've never seen a Bond movie, then the scene has very little meaning.

That's not the filmmakers fault, that's the fault of the person watching it. It's not a bad thing.

I mean, people get something that I don't in Moonrise Kingdom, but that's not the film's fault, it's my fault for not grasping what the film is supposed to be, due to my Wes Anderson Ignorance. :lol

Doesn't make the film bad. It's subjective. Just like TDKR. :D

You're just not hip enough.

Well the Bond example is incompatible - That would be valid if I had NOT seen the films leading up to Avengers, and then failed to feel much emotion for Coulson's death. But in fact i've seen ALL of the preceding films, some of them multilple times, and it still didn't work for me.

Same with your Wes Anderson example. Moonrise Kingdom didn't do much for me either, sure it was entertaining, but film of the year material? Not even close. But i've not seen Wes Anderson's other films so perhaps i'm ignorant about his style or something else that makes the film great. Totally different situation than Avengers, where I HAVE seen all the preceding material.

And sure, TDKR is subjective too. Many people felt the emotions that the filmmakers intended, plenty didn't.

Anyway - I liked Avengers a lot. Just didn't love it like some do. Solid 8/10.

But everything you said is related to you. Not the filmmakers.

Unless it's just a plain ole bad movie. :D

LOL. If you think that was what jacking off while posting looks like, I have to ask....are you blind yet sir? :monkey1

Eh?

The filmmakers of Avengers intend for Avengers to be a more compelling experience for those that have seen the preceding films (I assume you will agree with this much).

So once an audience member has seen the preceding films, and THEN watches Avengers, but some parts of it just don't connect with that audience member, then its not in any way the fault of the audience member. He/she has done all he/she can to 'GET' the film.

That is my point.

You can stretch that to Bond. If someone who's not familiar with the previous Bond films watches Skyfall, they won't get as much out of it as people who ARE familiar with it. The nods to the classic Bond films will be lost of them, and that will be their fault, not the filmmakers. But if they've seen all the prior films, watch Skyfall, and still don't care for it, well then for that person the fault lies with the film. Y'know, subjective opinion.

That's all folks.

It is subjective.

Why does Coulson's death affect me more then you? I enjoyed when the character was on screen, I liked Clark Gregg's performance, I enjoyed how he popped up grabbing all these characters from different films and bringing them together. I felt he had built up a good relationship with them to a point where I understood that when he died, he created the catalyst for the last act of the movie.

Now, you look at him, and you see some annoying CIA guy who wasn't developed.

I'm just saying, that's not the filmmakers fault. It's subjective.

So we agree. You just don't know it yet. :lol

Maybe I'm late to the party, but I thought that Coulson didn't die? Isn't Gregg starring in the new S.H.I.E.L.D TV series?

Person who watches Avengers without seeing Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Cap, Hulk and doesn't get the big deal about Coulson - got himself to blame.

Person who watches all of the above and doesn't get the big deal about Coulson - Doesn't got himself to blame.

Comprende?

Back to TDKR - you can actually watch The Dark Knight Reborn NOW if you've preordered through Best Buy. It seems its just an internet streaming add-on... and in fact you can purchase it on its own for $14.99 (ludicrous). I tried, it won't let me since I don't have a US zip code :(:(:(

You forgot to add "If I was only gay"...or "I dont know which is cuter, you or Kili"...LOL

Nope, I didn't forget anything and I will NEVER google Coulson gifs again. Theres some sick *****es out there making crap up, trust me, don't look for it... :lol
