My point is that that new 52 suit isn't much different at all. If I was the director and my art department came to me with the New 52 design after I told them I wanted something that put a stamp on this incarnation of Batman as unique, they'd either be fired or we'd just go with the TDK suit. At the very least, the black aspects should be blue.

Yeah, but without going way off the "Batman" look, they're going to have a hard time not drawing similarities in any costume choices. Its like that pink batman cover posted earlier, still recognizable as batman even though hes bright pink. theres just going to have to be some similarities.

I only own TDK on blu so I'm trying to decide whether I want to just pick up all three steelbooks or the Trilogy box set. I like box sets but the steelbooks just look more classy for these.

Steelbooks.

Hence the suggestion of moving toward a more traditional color scheme, swapping the black aspects for a navy/midnight blue.

Its all good, I thought you were wanting a response like that tbh. :dunno
:1-1:

So the documentary Dark Knight Reborn is on a disc but it only comes in the steelbook or collectors edition at Best Buy. Disappointed with this as I want the standard case to match Begins and TDK on the shelf. But I really want the documentary so I'll get the steelbook.

Is this confirmed?

:exactly: Saying that he has a black cape, cowl, boots. and gloves, as well as a grey suit is like saying the new Spider-Man looks too similar because he's blue and red.

They're still lines across the suit. Now stop and think for a second how they'll make those lines play out in live-action.

Those lines would work fine; they aren't massive gaps, and the suit isn't a barrage of plates.

Wrong. The cowl, cape, gloves/vambraces and boots are black. The belt is gold. While the body of the suit isn't completely gray, there are large chunks that are and there's a black bat on the chest. I'm not saying it's identical, but you stating they aren't similar in the least is absurd.

The grey areas on the TDK suit are few and far between. Off the top of my head, I can think of the kevlar connectors, the pecs, a few highlights on the ab plates, and the three sections on each outer thigh. The rest is black; both plates and mesh. That's far from being "too much" like an almost entirely (light) grey suit.

I was referring to the coloring and the fact that there's no yellow backdrop for the bat. In that context, it is, very much so. The only thing that separates them is the size and design of the bat.

As for the bats being similar, you could make the same argument for any batsymbol post-1995.

No, they're pretty similar. Also keep in mind that with TDK, the blades are separate and can shoot off, which makes them even more similar. As a matter of fact, the very fact that they are armored instead of being just part of the gloves like they are historically, is very much in tune with the Nolan Batman suit.

They're still not that similar, other than being black gauntlets with blades on the sides. The TDK suit may have had removable blades, but it didn't have separate pieces constructing the gauntlets. I still stand by my statement that they aren't that similar, outside of a few general things.

Nam and Difabio...Which copy are you buying?

I want the extra doc but it's not worth ****ing up the display, so probably just the regular combo pack (not the trilogy pack, the BR/DVD/Digi pack).

That extra doc is imortant...same here...If BB has it it's mine...I dont need the Trilogy pack either

But the problem is, if it's only in the steelbook, I'm passing. I don't want just one steelbook and refuse to rebuy films again and again (already did that for Begins with the shift to BR and TDK for the Batpod thingy), so if that's the case, no doc for me, and that stupid cowl gimmick looks cool but like the Batpod (which I bought), I'm betting DVD/BR storage is halfassed, so that's out too.

I only have the dvd versions of Begins and Dark Knight, so I'll probably get the trilogy thing.
