The steelbook is badass.

original

Yeah that does look way better. Wish that was the regular cover. I ordered the standard blu ray from play.com and its a really boring cover I think.

I see these movies as one. whan an amazing video.
I think I am going to watch it all over again these weekend.

That's not what I'm speaking to in your post. Nolan's TDKr and Miller's TDKR are essentially the same storyline and the same Bruce Wayne. You like one you should have no problems with the other if characterization is your complaint.

nolan aped the knightfall story, not dark knight returns :lol

I jumped in just to see if anyone was talking about the various special versions with extra features, but was treated to the same *****y criticisms you morons have been hammering at for months. Bravo.

What was Bane's plan anyway?

Bane's plan was to destroy Gotham while torturing Bruce's soul in the process.

Bane and Talia wanted Bruce to suffer, because he abandoned the League of Shadows, interfered with it's plans and "murdered" their leader.

In order to torture Wayne they:

-Broke his body so all he could do is lay there helpless.

-Stole his weapons and reactor. Bruce had intended these items to save Gotham, but they were now being used to destroy it.

-Cut Gotham off of the outside world and let the people tear it apart. While Bane spun it as a revolution to the people, it was to get the people to slowly lose hope and show Bruce that the people of Gotham are as bad as the League portrays them to be.

-Gordon's speech was not a part of the original plan and was the icing on the cake. The one thing Wayne and Gordon achieved was based on a lie, and further cemented the LOS belief that Gotham was corrupt.

The entire stock exchange sequence was to get Miranda Tate to become the head of Wayne Enterprises. The sole purpose of this was to find the location of the reactor. Miranda wanted Bruce to trust her, which is why she also slept with him.

The problem with the movie is so much is thrown at you it is hard to take it all in. You really have to pay attention and listen to everything that is said. I know the first time I watched it I wasn't clear about everything that happened and had to watch it a second time to make sense of it all.

Nothing that hasn't been said before. Many of these points have been adressed.

Keanu Reeves recently directed a documentary called "Side by Side", about just that. The movie stars a lot of A-lister directors and DOP's talking about this issue, including Nolan, Scorsese, Cameron, Lucas, Fincher, Lynch, Pfister, Soderbergh. They are devided into two groups, and all pitch in, with their pros/cons and arguments for either digital or film

Oh yes thanks for reminding me - need to see that!

Funny.

Waits for void to point out all the inaccuracies.

No point rehashing all that, i've addressed each of those things in this thread :lol

For those that dislike TDKR, please watch the special feature entitled: "The Journey of Bruce Wayne" (assuming you still bought the disc).

:lecture:lecture:

Void cat, I have a download for the reborn doc. Not too sure how it works. If you want it, pm me.

Sent you a msg on FB :hi5:

...and around and around we go...

People have differing opinions. Both sides should just accept that fact instead of turning this thread into "Groundhog Day" for the Nth time in a row.

:goodpost:

None of us expected them to take it where they did. But looking back, what they did in TDKR was actually a logical path to follow considering how TDK ended.

He didn't "sacrifice" the image of Batman and turn Harvey into a martyr to run around beating up street thugs (he wasn't going after the Joe Chills in BB and TDK. He went after the big dogs like Falcone and Maroni. Thanks to Rachel ;)) and get chased by the cops forever (or until the truth came out).

So for me, the characterization of Bruce Wayne and the story points (retiring after TDK, the Dent Act, Batman as a symbol/Batman can be anybody) in TDKR do not contradict the previous films.

Also, way back in an interview with Nolan during Batman Begins, he did say that he looked at Bruce's goal as an achievable one. Which he sort of repeated in a recent interview at the end here.

:goodpost:

Bruce does not truly 'pick himself back up' until the end of TDKR. (i.e. He does not truly RISE until the end of TDKR.)

Thomas Wayne (who said "why do we fall") would not be truly proud of, and happy for, his son until Bruce had stopped tormenting himself.

It is the same Bruce.

The Dark Knight Rises is my personal favorite of the bunch. Not because it's the best movie, but because it moves me more than the other two combined.

The Dark Knight is the best movie of the 3.

Yeah, TDKR is my personal favourite for the same reasons.

At the end of da day, TDKR could've made 2 billion dollars and DiFabio would still have his own personal reasons why he didn't like it (and think void is nuts) and vice versa, it could've bombed at the box office yet Void would still have his own personal reasons why he loves it (and think DiFabio is nuts).

It's not just about da money.

:lol

That's not a fair fight...How can I see where I'm throwing my punches when you got your flashlight tooth shining in my face...LOL

:rotfl

But ultimately the Nolan Batman is searching for redemption not justice. It started out that way with the first film where all he wanted was to save Gotham, but come TDK all he wants to do is give up the cowl and live happily ever after.
Of course all this goes back to the fact that Nolan's Bruce chooses to put on the costume. He's not driven to do so. Its not a compulsion for him. Every criminal he takes down isn't vicariously the man who killed his parents.

:exactly:

And it still doesn't change how amazing this film is.

Thank you Christohper Nolan for one of the Best Trilogies Ever. :clap

I think this trilogy could have had better titles though. They should have just stuck with the naming convention of the Burton films, Frank Miller be damned:

1. The Dark Knight (introduction and origin)

2. The Dark Knight Returns (since he well, returns for the sequel)

3. The Dark Knight Forever (sets up the cowl as an immortal symbol anyone can wear)
