Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Are you taller than the guy playing Bane? If so, that's gonna be a problem.

Yeah, I'm taller than Hardy but he's going to wear platform shoes. No problem.

Daniel Sunjata And Two More Join ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ [Updated]
Posted on Tuesday, April 12th, 2011 by Germain Lussier

UPDATE: Variety is now reporting that Sunjata’s role is that of a “courageous special forces operative” and that Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman are also in talks. Read more about them after the jump.

Casting has been the thing for Christopher Nolan over the past few weeks. After locking down all of the lead roles in his highly anticipated third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, with actors like Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard, Nolan has recently been concentrating on the smaller roles. He’s cast Juno Temple, most likely as Selina Kyle’s sidekick, and Josh Pence probably as a young Ra’s Al Ghul. The Tracking Board now reports that Daniel Sunjata, best known for his role on Rescue Me, has joined the film in a yet-to-be-announced capacity.

According to The Tracking Board, Sunjata is “rumored to play an ‘important character to the story.’” Variety says that his role is that of a “courageous special forces operative” and that also joining the cast are Diego Klattenhoff, as “a rookie cop who is looking to make a difference” and Burn Gorman, in a “supporting role.”

If you don’t recognize Sunjata, you probably don’t watch TV. He was a regular on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, played Reggie Jackson the ESPN show The Bronx Is Burning, was a nurse on Grey’s Anatomy but is best known for playing Franco Rivera on FX’s hit show, Rescue Me.

Klattenhoff was recently cast in Showtime’s upcoming show Homefront while Gorman was in Layer Cake, the popular BBC series Torchwood and will appear in the Johnny English Reborn.

So how do all of these guys, mostly law officers, fit in? Let’s speculate based on facts we already know. Anne Hathaway is playing Selena Kyle, who most likely becomes Catwoman. Tom Hardy is Bane, a brutal enforcer. The film will feature flashbacks with the character of Ra’s Al Ghul as a younger man and it will all be shot in Pittsburgh. Other than that, we’re making educated guesses. We think Joseph Gordon Levitt is Alberto Falcone but can’t be sure and the same goes for Cotillard, who is probably Talia Al Ghul, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Are you enjoying all of this wild Dark Knight Rises speculation or do you just want some official confirmations already?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm sure there's some interest for this. Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns is being adapted to a DC Universe animated feature:

An Animated DARK KNIGHT RETURNS In The Works?

Nordling here.

Looks like Frank Miller and Klaus Janson's masterpiece, THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, is going to be a film - an animated one, but still, we'll get to see it in action. According to Bleeding Cool, the same team that brought us ALL-STAR SUPERMAN and the upcoming BATMAN: YEAR ONE is working on bringing it to life. YEAR ONE is already close to finished, and after that, they'll be working on adapting TDKR.

I'm assuming that they will receive some kind of video release, but if there's any Batman story that deserves to be shown in theaters, it's THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. Hopefully it's a straight adaptation, and if Warner Animated doesn't pull any punches, it would be rated R, but I'd bet that's not going to happen. So I say let's get this into theaters, animated, just like MASK OF THE PHANTASM was. Nothing wrong with the made-for-DVD releases the DC Animated team's made so far - they're all quite good. But THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS is as huge a comics work as WATCHMEN, and if you're going to adapt it, you should go all the way. It's too big not to be in theaters, in my opinion.

And hey, Clint Eastwood's under WB. Just sayin...

Nordling, out.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Snyder expressed interest in doing a live action of TDKR. Wonder if his Superman does well if they let him tackle it.

Official cast info released today...

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have joined the cast of “The Dark Knight Rises,” the epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend.

Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.

Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.

The film reunites the actors with Christopher Nolan, who recently directed them in the award-winning blockbuster “Inception.”

The director stated, “When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.”

Heading the cast of “The Dark Knight Rises,” Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The main cast also includes Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as Bane.

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Christopher Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
