Re: The Dark Knight Rises

:exactly:

Some fan boy's wet dream.

That would look like crap in nolan's Gotham without a doubt.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well i'd love for JGL to play Joker don't get me wrong, and i'd totally be in for laughing man returns too :rotfl

I just don't want to get my hopes up though, so i'm firmly sticking to 0% expectation of it happening! :wink1:

Yes, it is hard to believe. I agree. However IF someone should be recasted, I always wanted either DiCaprio (btw what is he doing atthe moment?!) or JGL. And announcing him as a different character would be very Nolanesque. Remember all the wrong film titles they used while filming TDK?

@ Laughing Man Returns: if he doesnt appear we do it in WGP Burton style. :hi5:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I don't know about all this positivity. I guess I don't have much stock in this "In Nolan We Trust" stuff. History has shown that a great director with an awsome track record can still phenominally screw things up. And these probelms always seem to manifest themselves around the time the director makes the third film in a trilogy.

After all, George Lucas was considered one of the best directors and storytellers in the world at one point. Until suddenly he wasn't.

Sam Raimi directed 2 of the most entertaining and faithful Spiderman adaptations ever, until he made the third film (whose problems went far, far deeper than the fact that Venom was forced in).

Spielburg understands what goes into a good movie maybe as good as anyone. But even he has made a few duds based on bad calls that can be placed on no one but himself.

I gotta be honest, some of the things we are hearing about this movie worry me. And im not one to give a director the benefit of the doubt based on previous work.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I've been a Nolan fan since Memento, and don't think he's made a bad movie in that time-frame. Is it possible he'll screw up here? Of course. But unlike Raimi (who was hit-or-miss with some of his films up until Spidey 3) and George Lucas (who's creative spirit seems to have atrophied after the first trilogy wrapped up), Nolan's given us absolutely nothing to make us think that he's going to do a bad job.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Nolan's earned brownie points because of his filmography thus far. Realistically, the odds of TDKR not living up to his previous two Bat-films is quite high, but I doubt it'll be a bad film.

If you can't put some trust into Nolan, given his body of work, then who can you? I'll reserve the skepticism until he's made a stinker.

Well then we'll just have to wait and see then won't we :monkey1

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I don't know about that. Iron Man 2 had terrible parts because of the Avenger junk they crammed into it. So the Avenger movie is prolly going to be a clusterfuak of garbage that only Marvel can deal out.

That's the way I've felt about the whole Avengers thing. Pretty much every Hulk movie has been a steaming pile of crap, and we have yet to see the outcome of these other characters movies. I think the reason why movies like Nolan's Batman films & Iron Man do so well is because they're not technically superheroes. I think it appeals to a lot of people that these men were just ordinary people that stood up to evil in the world and kick ass doing it. That's what drew me in to these franchises. The Avengers I feel should just stay in comic form, because I think the movie is going to mess up the reputation.

:dunno

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

:lol People are still talking about the Joker? Nolan said no Joker, that he wasn't goign to recast Ledger's part. Unlike when Snyder said no Zod only to get Zod, he'd look like a ____ going against his word of saying he wanted to honor Heath's memory etc. So I don't think it's happening although I'm sure in the reboot to be done right after you'll see a new Joker sooner than later so WB can cash in on the hype with the first Ledger replacement...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

God I hope the next reboot doesn't have the obligatory origin story - begins cannot be topped in that regard and I hope noone tries for a long time - I'd love the reboot to go straight to a mature batman who's been doing his thing for a number of yrs

But I digress

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I hate this reboot crap. Hollywood needs to knock it off already. Go reboot your mom.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Hollywood execs don't have moms. They're born in test tubes filled with acid and fluids from the colon.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yes but you forget one important point - JGL has been spotted numerous times in full cop uniform while filming in London

You're right, Hollywood should've never allowed Nolan to reboot Batman and Joel Shumacher should've continued with Batman and Robin part 2, where Mr. Freeze forms a hockey team with the Joker, Bane and Gorilla Grod and they battle it out for the Stanley Cup.

Yeah I feel the same way. It'd be cool to see a batman reboot based on The Dark Knight Returns. I love that book. It would just be cool to see a aged Bruce Wayne come out of retirement and kick ass. But then again that book did have Robin in it which I didnt care for. It didn't spoil the story for me though. They could always write her out.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

But Hobbot wasn't one of the choices :tap

SOooooooo....which one....dammit :lol

TDKR
Avengers

Sorry. Misunderstood. I thought you meant that we had to pick two movies to watch before the world ends, and your pics were Avengers and TDKR.

In answer to your question: TDKR easily! :rock
