Re: The Dark Knight Rises

^ dude that was not a teaser... that was the prologue!

I'm really hoping we get another this time around :D

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah, the teaser was the bat symbol with the Joker voice-over and card.

The IMAX thing was just a bonus scene to sucker people into seeing "I Am Legend"

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah prologue. Either way it was very long and unexpected. I agree, I hope they do the same this time around.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The Hobbit. Parts 1 and 2.

Sorry guys.

J.R.R. Tolkien > Bob Kane

J.R.R. Tolkien > Bob Kane

You know, I love Batman. I've liked it since I've been old enough to walk. I gotta say though I'm pretty excited about the return to Middle Earth. Much more so now that Peter Jackson is at the helm. Now I'm not going to say something blasphemous like "Lord of The Rings > Batman" but I have this feeling the Hobbit is going to be really special.

Not that TDKR won't be, it's just, well, it ain't The Dark Knight. :monkey1

You can already see how much work Jackson and the rest of the crew are putting into the production just by watching those awesome video blogs.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Mag - you won't get far with Tolkien > Bob Kane in a TDKR thread :D

But I really look fwd to The Hobbit too, just not nearly as much as TDKR

Hence the "sorry guys". :wave

But yeah, Tolkien has had a far more profound effect on my life and personality than any other artist or writer. His legendarium and the characters therein mean far more to me than any superhero. It would be impossible for me to over-state that fact.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I am sure I read on Collider.com that Dave S Goyer said the beginning of TDKR blows the beginning of TDK away!!!

So excited :panic:

Okay, now I wouldn't go that far. Of course, I was a teenager when I started to actually like LOTR but I digress. GTFO MAGLOR!

Batman, specifically Batman the Animated Series shaped the person I am today. :lecture

BATMAN > Long bottom leaf smokin' Tolkein.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

How can you compare a freakin Hobbit to BATMAN :slap

"His legendarium and the characters therein" includes Balrogs (ancient demons), angels in human form ("Wizards"), Mighty elf lords, flawed but determined men, ax wielding dwarves, and a story that is deeply spiritual.

And yes, there are hobbits in there too.

For me it was the reverse. Tolkien was my first contact with art and culture. My mother read it to me before I could read myself. I listened to the radio dramas when I was growing up in a house without television. Batman came much later in my life.

Regardless, I hold this truth to be self-evident: There are a few messages in Batman that are emotionally resonant and a couple that I might go far as to say "spiritually" resonant, but the superior depth of Tolkien's world and message is undeniable.

That is all. :wave

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I beg your pardon it was Wall Pfister and he said this

“Our goal is to shoot as much in IMAX as we can. We’re going to put in on the screen, and put it on the screen big. And I really encourage everyone to see it in IMAX if they can because we’re really going for it this time. In terms of the action, we are all scratching our heads right now trying to figure out how we’re going to do it; how we’re going to do it in the amount of time we’re going to do it in. The opening scene of the movie will blow your mind.”

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well, what do you expect? What's he going to say, that TDKR's beginning isn't as good? :huh

They got a movie to promote!

They were talking about the beginning of TDK and I remember reading that and getting all excited! Sorry

But Hobbot wasn't one of the choices :tap

SOooooooo....which one....dammit :lol

TDKR
Avengers

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Do you remember the teaser they played in the IMAX theatres? It ended up being the entire opening scene from the movie (Bank robbery scene) Probably the longest teaser i've ever seen.

Hehe I still remember 2008 like it was yesterday, I admit I was a total fanboy to the movie. We were taking off early to Orlando the next day but I still had to see it that night. IMAX is the only way to go when it comes to these movies.

Is 2012 here yet? :impatient:

I completely forgot about that! Wonder if they will do something similar. Would be nice!

Ha you're talking to a fanboy bud! I flew to Orlando from UK to see it midnight opening in IMAX. Magical.

Oh....I also had a bit of a holiday whilst over there too. :lol

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Juggernaut looked great in X3. Those 3 goof behild them, looked like terraaaawwwwble. The hedgehog guy was lame too.

Maybe they should have got Vinnie to play Bane. Hardy is a REPLICA to Vinnies Desert Eagle .50.

Awesome reference! :lol
