Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I hope we get more of Gotham's underbelly like Begins. The Narrows scenes and the Arkham stuff were really ineteresting visually. While TDK had explosive action and quality acting, the visuals weren't as interesting as Begins to me. The lighting in the more creepy locations in Begins and the gargoyle shots of Batman with the cape flowing set against some interesting backdrops was really beautiful to me visually. TDK set him against too many common settings.

There was also a lot of daylight in TDK. Between that and the Chicago location, there was something missing in the atmosphere. Chicago is too clean. I know it has its dirt, but it has always felt more like Metropolis than Gotham to me. Since it is his chosen city for the films, I don't expect him to change that, but I hope the third movie uses more of Chicago's dark side.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Personally I think having the Bat on everything Batman uses is the most goddamn cheesy thing in the whole ____ing world. If they throw a huge bat on the next mobile I will absolutely hate it. Please lord let Nolan look at the animated versions to appease the fanboys but keep it believable.
...

Yeah, I totally agree. I also think that prefixing everything that Batman owns with 'bat' is a pretty goofy idea.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I don't think he so much forgot about them as just TDK being a different story. In Begins, Bruce/Batman was the central focus of the movie with Scarecrow and Ra's as background elements of that story, in TDK, Harvey and the Joker were the main focus with Batman being more of a background piece, and the Joker also caused haste to Batman's ways, there wasn't time for him to be perhced on roofs looking for answers, the Joker and his ways forced a fast paced assault by Batman. Hopefully the new villain is a bit slower and allows for a more "cinematic" visual approach to things like Begins.

I'll buy your explanation Sean, I just feel like there were a few opportunities he could've done a bit more dramatic compositions. One being the scene on the roof where he's listening in on the Joker, the other when he's waiting on the Batpod before he heads to the Pruitt building. Your rational makes sense and Nolan could've choosen not to shoot these scenes that way because Batman was in "fast paced assault" mode, I just know I would've appreciated some billowing cape action and dramatic stances. :D Too many years ready the comics I guess. I do like the moment where Gordon's wife looks up at him perched on the ledge after learning of Jim's death - great scene.

I'd say yes, contribute it here, since it's all related to this film of sorts, I think the DC section is overrun enough with Nolan Batman related threads.

Technically we have an "art" forum....I'd think they'd go better there...

Cool. I'll try to post some stuff tonight.

One being the scene on the roof where he's listening in on the Joker

This shot I agree, I'd be curious to know why they went with that posture for the shot, it wasn't just random posing, there had to be some direction so it was a choice, they could have had him crouched on a ledge or something like Begins and still listening, he doens't have to stand up to hear anything through his earpiece.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I love the Tumbler. That said, I'll be curious to see what the new ride will look like. I'm in the camp that feels he doesnt need the bat design in there. Maybe a more sleek version of the tumbler is whats needed. I just can't stand the fins on any Batmobile. One of the things I like most about Nolans' designs are that everything has a function and purpose. The next batmobile needs to follow that same principle.

I do remember the first image of the Tumbler I saw I was like "What the blank is that?!" It immediately reminded me of the tank used in TDKR. Whenever these new designs come out it always has a way of surprising you but it also grows on you. Remember when you first saw the design of the Naboo fighter from TPM? I hated it now it's one of my favorite ships in all of SW.

Thats what I want to. I love the "real world" Batmobile. Some of those old movies ones looked neat but were just a little overboard on the cheesyness.

I still think a hybrid of Tumbler design and Lamborghini design could make it have a Batmobile feel to it without having to go as extreme as past films.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Yup. Just a sleeker version of the Tumbler. Makes sense as thats what happened to his suit in TDK. Still think the Bat Pod has it's purpose also. Something he keeps hidden in the city for more mobility and to get in tight spots. The new Tumbler is what he takes from the (hopefully) Batcave to the city.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Yeah, I'm not one for tossing out the Batpod, something small and fast like that will have its uses, he could never have travelled the course he did after the Joker with a car and not have caused even more damage to property. Car's good for speed and power, Batpod's good for speed and maneuvering. Presumably any new vehicle will be well equipped with weapons and defensive measures.

I think that is what they will probably do.

Some CONFIRMED info about the next Batman starting to emerge...

Just a small bit of info - but Nolan has stated the next villain will NOT be Mr. Freeze (no big surprise). Here's a long article about him helping with Superman, but in the last paragraph he talks about the "conclusion" of the Batman series:

https://latimesblogs.latimes.com/hero...c-story-1.html

And anyone who still thinks we will see anyone like Johnny Depp or Cher, go back and read this again:

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

As I mentioned, here are a few TDK sequel posters I came up with a while ago. Feedback welcome - it's just fan art for fun's sake.

I have to say the black and blue one is kind of cool.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

So is the riddler a confirmed villain in the 3rd movie?

No, at this point, the only confirmed things are that Nolan's team are in the writing process and they've been spotted checking out locales in Chicago, and Nolan will not have Superman and Batman exist within each other's stories.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

The villains are Man-Bat and Poison Ivy!
