Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

i am glad they talked about this. chris nolan also mentioned this would be the 3rd and final one done in his trilogy of batman..

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I hope we get more of Gotham's underbelly like Begins. The Narrows scenes and the Arkham stuff were really ineteresting visually. While TDK had explosive action and quality acting, the visuals weren't as interesting as Begins to me. The lighting in the more creepy locations in Begins and the gargoyle shots of Batman with the cape flowing set against some interesting backdrops was really beautiful to me visually. TDK set him against too many common settings. I'd also like to see more gargoyle type shots of him watching over the city, the one shot in TDK didn't have the same visual impact, it's cool, but I prefer the ones from Begins, especially when he hunts down the drugs in the Narrows and it starts with a shot of him, cape flapping in the wind. I really like the visual portrayal of Batman as a creature, which Begins did. Even though the suit is refined from TDK, you can still depict him in a creature way.

QFT. One of the only things TDK lacked was the establishing shots of Batman surveying HIS city. Love the images of him from the narrows or on top of the building after we see his "makeshift batsignal" using Falcone. First time I saw that I knew Begins for me was the definative Batman film for me, the one I always wanted and never got.

I for one like his vigilante status and part of what makes him a real hero is that what he does is completely selfless. The general public may think he's nuts and dont appreciate having him in their city. But he does it anyway because he knows Gotham needs him to be Batman. And the criminals arent as likely to fear a guy they know wont kill him. TDK sets up nicely that they dont know that so they will fear him even more.

The only way I want to see the city embracing him is having people talking, telling stories of how they were almost killed and Batman saved them. Or a kid saying "Don't worry, Batman will save us". Point is, I don't want to see the film end in a parade the city has for batman or anything.

Bring it on, Nolan! Can't wait.

Well I don't want it to go that far, somewhere between early TDK and the end of the 1989 Batman. More embraced instead of hated and loathed like he'll be post TDK with blame for the Joker killings and then taking the burden of Harvey's murders. Even if it's back to how he was at the start of TDK, I just want to see his public image cleaned up from where TDK left off.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

One thing is a must, Batcave

Remember Alfred and Waynes conversation at the end of Begins? TDK had not even a glance of the new Wayne Manor so I would assume (hopefully going back to the Begins feel) they focus more on Batman/Wayne and his new pad ................ and even Batcave.

I think its a must imo. Just please, for the love of God, keep Wayne travelling on the streets and not in the air.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Agreed on more epic, dramatic visuals of Batman around Gotham. Batman Begins did offer more in that department...it's almost like Nolan forgot about shots like that in TDK.

A few things I'd love to see in a TDK sequel:

- a more developed Batcave below a rebuilt Wayne manor.
- Bruce in the batsuit at his parents grave.
- a re-imagined Batmobile/Tumbler (no boats or planes though ;)).

On a related note...since I spend most of my time in the DC section, maybe someone can direct me. I've designed a bunch of TDK sequel posters over the last year or so plus a teaser trailer. Would this be a good place to share them or should I try elsewhere?

What i didn't think of is that he will have to be cleared over the killings. Otherwise, no signal in the sky anymore and the police would have to be hunting him instead of secretly working with him. I would be fine with, like you said, the image he had at the beginning of TDK. Feared by criminals and secretly working with Gordon.

I don't think he so much forgot about them as just TDK being a different story. In Begins, Bruce/Batman was the central focus of the movie with Scarecrow and Ra's as background elements of that story, in TDK, Harvey and the Joker were the main focus with Batman being more of a background piece, and the Joker also caused haste to Batman's ways, there wasn't time for him to be perhced on roofs looking for answers, the Joker and his ways forced a fast paced assault by Batman. Hopefully the new villain is a bit slower and allows for a more "cinematic" visual approach to things like Begins.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I don't know about any of that, but I do know that the villains should be Eggman and King Tut. Batman would stand zero chance.

"You are truly an EGGxtraordinary foe, Batman, and that is no EGGzagerration!"

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I am very happy with the Batman news, and I know Nolan will come through and deliver on the 3rd film. I'm sure gonna miss Heath though. :monkey2

Knowing that Nolan will be involved in the new Superman movie, well now I'm interested.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

& hopefully a real batmobile

I always laugh when I read these kind of comments. What made the Tumbler "not a batmobile"? Out of all of the designs that have been thrown at us over the years, the Tumbler has been one of my favorites. I liked it much better than the Burtonmobiles and the Schumacher monstrosities.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I think most people feel that a Batmobile is defined by elements of a bat woven into the design. I've heard the explanations of how bat design was very subtly worked into the Tumbler design, but utlimately, it is a very common looking design, the visual of it wasn't suggestive of being Batman's vehicle, it was just some tank he took over. Now something as flashy as Burton's Batmobile or Schumacher's would look out of place in Nolan's world, but I think there's room for a more personally designed vehicle for Batman if they build a new car and don't leave the Batpod as his primary vehicle.

I enjoy the Tumbler as a vehicle and its screen presence, but I call it the Tumbler, not the Batmobile.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

The only thing I can think of right now that would suck more than the bat-praising parade that was suggested as few posts back, would be a dead Batman at the end of the film. Add to that some angry kid 'taking over the cowl' and you'll be served a pretty cheesy ending for an otherwise beautiful story.
I really hope they don't go either route!

Personally I think having the Bat on everything Batman uses is the most goddamn cheesy thing in the whole ____ing world. If they throw a huge bat on the next mobile I will absolutely hate it. Please lord let Nolan look at the animated versions to appease the fanboys but keep it believable.

I'd say yes, contribute it here, since it's all related to this film of sorts, I think the DC section is overrun enough with Nolan Batman related threads.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I would think a Nolanverse Batmobile designe by Bruce would incorporate Lambo designs and Tumbler aspects into a powerful but fast vehicle.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Technically we have an "art" forum....I'd think they'd go better there...
