Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm trying to stay out of this thread to avoid seeing or reading things but I can't help myself.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'll be surprised if all of the "day" shots we've seen so far actually end up being "day" shots in the finished film. It's no secret A LOT of movies that portray night time scenes are actually shot in broad daylight. Wonder if that's the case here.

:exactly::goodpost: A simple lens change and some clean up in post can make it look like at night.

Agreed. With everything being primarily black it's probably the only way to get any good detail while shooting scenes. As for Nolan hating CGI he's probably actually more like most of us in that he hates bad CGI. It's a tool that when used properly gives us the likes of Inception versus some cheesy movie like (insert bad CGI movie here).

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well before any of this started, I think everyone assumed or had hoped that there would be a new suit considering each and every film before it had atleast 1-2 total.

However with the teaser and spy shots from the Carnegie shoot, I gave up all hope on a new one being included. It's good to see it as a possibility again, but I don't know there seems to be a helluva lot in this film already.

If it is true, Hot Toys is going to have a FIELD day with this stuff.

Ive been saying this from the beginning I have no doubt in my mind that there will be a new suit. Its a must. I was never worried that they wouldnt do one. I know this is still rumor but Im just saying

Yup, I can't remember what director said it, but CGI isn't a verb. It's a noun. To many filmmakers this days are saying "don't worry, we'll just CGI-it."

:clap Agreed! I wish Hollywood hired more intelligent directors like Nolan...ahhh to dream.

Yea, I know what you mean. I was watching the commentary on Terminator 2, and while I thought Cameron was a brilliant storyteller with an eye for great visuals, it made me realize how alot of the success of his early films were just happy accidents due to the limitations of the time.

After every awsome stunt or physical effect that looked amazing specifically becuase it was real, he said "Today I would probably just CGI that and save myself the trouble".

...speaking of Terminator is anyone kinda getting a Skynet inspired design vibe from the "Bat-chopper" videos?

Totally

This movie seems it'll have a very bleak tone from the teaser trailer, I wouldn't be surprised if the terminator films were an inspiration

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It's time for me to stop clicking on anything Dark Knight related for the next 11 months. There's obviously way too much getting out.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Not sure if you can call it the Batwing....I mean it was the Tumbler not the Batmobile. This will probably be something like The Toppler or Plummeter.
