Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

He just couldn't be as huge and roided as in the comics though. Just a big body builder type, no super human strength or anything. But that doesn't make him as much of a threat then without the super strength. I think he'd just get henchmen status again. At least he would probably be able to say more than just "Bomb" ... "Bomb" ... "Bomb" :lol

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Brock Lesnar would make a good Bane. Not sure how he'd take getting beat down by Christian Bale though. :lol

In TNA there is a guy called Rob Terry, he is physically huge dwarfing lesnar at the moment...as long as terry never had to speak a single he could be good! plus he is from the UK.

even thicker! he could destroy you bone by bone into dust but would self destruct at conversation attempts above the level of a 2 month old baby.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Bits from DP Wally Phister and pending July Announcement.

The fact that there will be another Batman film in Christopher Nolan’s presumptive trilogy is assumed by just about everyone, despite the fact that there has been no formal announcement of the film. But in the runup to the release of Nolan’s Inception, which opens on July 16, there is already some talk about what the next Batman film might look like.

Wally Pfister is the cinematographer responsible for all of Christopher Nolan’s features from Memento on, and his photography was one of the things I liked best about The Dark Knight. He captured Chicago-as-Gotham with a simplicity and clarity that was very uncharacteristic of most superhero films. Now he’s talking about possibilities for the third film, including the option of 3D. Hint: don’t expect Batman 3D.
Cinematical spoke to Pfister when the Dallas Film Society presented him with the Star Award for accomplishments in cinematography. The site promises a full interview in which Pfister explains the “mutual disinterest” he and Christopher Nolan have for 3D. But they do quote him saying,

What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting…Brad Bird was [saying] ‘you’ve got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!’ I was like, yeah, I’ve talked to Chris about that.

There’s also another comment, which seems to refer to shooting more of this upcoming film in IMAX:

But I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.

AICN, meanwhile, got a few more of Pfister’s comments from a tipster. Both the cinematographer and Nolan are disinterested in digital cinematography and very much prefer to shoot on film. That’s the root of their disinterest in 3D, which Pfister said is “great for like amusement park rides like the ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’ ride at Disneyland.” Pfister also called 3D a distraction and not realistic.

The appeal of IMAX and the disinterest in 3D both come from that love of shooting on film. While 3D lacks realism, shooting in IMAX has huge latitude, and captures incredible detail. The downside to IMAX is that the cameras are bulky and loud, and the format is expensive.

FYI, Batman on Film is saying that Warner Bros. will officially announce the third Batman film in July. Which isn’t that much of a deductive leap, as Nolan hasn’t been interested in talking about Batman while he finishes Inception, and that movie is released in July. Plus, there’s that little Comic Con gathering in San Diego. So expect more news in July.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Thanks for sharing that pjam.

I was thinking how long a wait this may be, but we are already almost two years from TDK. Wow.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Too bad they're anti-3D. I agree that in past uses, it does feel more gimmick than practical, but something like Avatar where it makes you feel like you're standing amidst the action would be cool with Batman, especially shots of Batman leaping and flying through cities and rooftops.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I always said Nolan wouldn't go digital, he loves the richness of film and already has a number of IMAX Cams refitted. Still, it will be a very difficult shoot because they are so heavy, bulky and noisy. But Wally knows how to use them, has a Cam Crew experienced using them so it's just a more complete way to Shoot the 3rd installment. Remember Nolan would have preferred to shoot all of TDK in IMAX but it just wasn't feasible. I'd rather see sweeping textured IMAX imagery on film consistent with TDK than digital crap 3D.

And I'm still predicting a Fall/Winter Shoot and a 2011 Release. Warners has available dates for their Summer Release Sched,a lack of Summer tentpoles and if they announce a Summer 2011 Date, I guarantee competing films will run as far away from it as possible.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I highly doubt this will be a summer 2011 release, but i'd LOVE to be proven wrong on that one!

Also, glad they're not jumping on the 3D bandwagon. I enjoyed Avatar, but I would enjoy a 100% IMAX shot TDK sequel a hell of a lot more.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

While IMAX announced that they had signed a 20-film deal with Warner Bros, last week, and that the untitled Third Batman Movie was on the list.

Well, Warner Bros has just now announced an official release date(via Production Weekly) for Christopher Nolan’s Batman 3. When will the Dark Knight Return?

Warner Bros. plans to release "Batman 3" on July 20, 2012.

If the filming schedule is similar to the Previous Batman sequel, the third movie could go into production January or February 2011. And While Nolan had said that he was working on a story/script with David Goyer and brother Jonathan Nolan, could this mean that they have gotten at least a story to stick with.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

From Mike Fleming @ DH:

Warner Bros has set Batman 3 for release on July 20, 2012, according to an internal email just sent by distribution chief Dan Fellman. There is no official start of production date at this point because Chris Nolan just completed Inception, the film that opens July 16. The film is expected to be done in 3D. Nolan's brother and oft-collaborator Jonathan Nolan has been working on the script, based on a story hatched by the writer and David Goyer. Goyer simultaneously is writing the next Superman installment, which is being godfathered by Nolan based on an idea he and Goyer hatched together. No word on when that gets into production.

I'm not sure about the 3D part. I think Chris wants to film the whole thing in IMAX.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Man, that seems like a long ways off, that's 4 years between TDK and the next one. Morbid as it sounds, it worries me in regards to something possibly happening with Freeman or Caine. While of course, age has little to do with passing on, Heath, I still get nervous when older guys are key to a series and completion of it is pushed out..

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Lets not forget that Bale isn't getting any younger either. He's what 35-36?? How old do you think his body can take the super hero stuff?
I just hope Nolan doesn't try to out-do the Dark Knight and just goes in to make a great movie.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I don't think he'll try to top the Dark Knight, he might be more picky about ideas for it with concern of falling too short, but I don't think he's setting out to top it, just to make another good movie.

Are there big movies planned for 2011 they might be trying to avoid competing with?

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

There has to be extenuating circumstances. They could have shot this this fall spring and released it for 2011. I'm sure the Studio preferred it. When you think MI4 is STILL being written and has a 2011 release date, you see what I mean. So, Casting Schedules, etc may be playing a part in this. Also, I believe there were efforts to get this started this year as Location scouts were in Chicago already, so something is up. Nolan must have said we needed more time, or maybe WB put Superman ahead of it.

But anyway you look at it, it's a shame WB lost the 2011 Summer Window for either DK or Supes. They should have had at least one ready for 2011 and the other ready for 2012.

Marvel has Thor and Captain America in 2011, so the superhero competition is fierce for summer 2011.
