Haven't read through the entire thread in a while, but what's the latest speculation on the possibility of Batman wearing a new, non-TDK suit at any point in the film?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I can't make my mind up if it's damaged or it's just the water!
I think, like void said, it's probably just wet.
The suit.. just looks like its wet and a little contorted because of his pose
Yeah that's probably right.
The scene "When Gotham is Ashes" is not in the batcave, it's in the prison :)

Might be, so this prison concept is that Bane is keeping all the rich in a prison?

50/50

It does get broken which would make us presume that he'll get a new suit. It all depends on how the final fight goes down.
In eight years, Lucius probably has a new prototype batsuit lying around somewhere...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Um, anyway, getting back to the topic of this thread... :lol

Having now watched the prologue and the second trailer and having been teased by the poster with the tag line "THE LEGEND ENDS" and the image of Bane walking away from Batman's shattered cowl, I was very much struck how this movie will bring the trilogy full circle with the League of Shadows imposing their particular brand of justice on the world. In that spirit I have begun to re-watch the first two films, as it's been awhile since I've seen either. I was floored by the scene where Ducard frst introduces himself to Wayne, as it has a direct connection to one of the "debates" of this thread (honestly, I don't know how this dialogue exchange slipped my mind, when this movie was released, it featured one of the most prominent quotes):

Bruce Wayne: You're vigilantes.
Henri Ducard: No, no, no. A vigilante is just a man lost in the scramble for his own gratification. He can be destroyed, or locked up. But if you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, and if they can't stop you, then you become something else entirely.
Bruce Wayne: Which is?
Henri Ducard: A legend, Mr. Wayne.

So, the legend IS Batman, it's right there. Nolan's films are nothing if not carefully crafted, everything is very deliberate, huge eye for small detail. "THE LEGEND ENDS". Catchy marketing line with no deeper meaning? Nope. Referencing the 'legend' of Nolan's Batman films? Don't buy it. By the end of this film, regardless of Bruce Wayne's fate, Batman himself will be no more. :horror Interesting...

Speaking of Lucius...

There was a rumor he dies. If true, who do you think will kill him? I think it's gonna be Miranda Tate/Talia al Ghul.

I'd say unlikely and if at all, brief, there are at least 2 big moments with him in the TDK suit and I don't see why they'd keep a new one secret since the TDK suit was shown off.

I would say 60/40. The broken cowl certainly would indicate a new suit would be needed but who knows if they'll simply give him the same Batsuit again.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

A few months ago early in the production it was suggested that the story in TDKR is inspired by Dickens' 'A Tale of Two Cities'.
Now given what we have been shown in the trailer particularly with respect to the rich/poor dynamic, reading about the themes of the book really makes this theory very very believable.

Oh and there's a chapter in the book called 'Fire Rises'

Also a couple of character names that are used for characters in TDKR apparently (Nixon and Stryver)

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Does Bane switch to a full mask in this movie?

Is that a full mask he's wearing in that HD photo void posted.

I bet the book will be specifically referenced in the film somehow. Probably by Bane. Or he'll have a copy of the book or something.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I don't think Batman gets a new suit for a few reasons:

1. The TDK suit was lighter and more flexible for Bruce than the BB suit (that was the whole reason he asked Lucius for it) at the cost of a little bit more vulnerabilitly.

2. Every...single...official and unauthorized set picture, video clip and trailer that features Batman, shows him in his TDK suit. Of course, it's possible that some Batman scenes were shot on closed sets with tighter security, and no pics of those scenes have leaked, but there is nothing released to suggest that he gets a new suit...yes...even the fact that his cowl gets broken.

3. In Batman Begins, He orders 10,000 of the Original Suit style cowl parts (to avoid suspicion, and to "have spares"). Do you really think when he commissioned the TDK suit from Lucius he said..."oh yeah, btw, since you know who I am, and it's already an improvement on my old suit, I only need....ONE". Of course that isn't his only suit, or only cowl.

4. A little speculation here, and a lot of educated guessing (I was an extra in the Wall Street fight scene, which they "told" us--could be purposeful misinformation--was the beginning of the fight scene they shot in Pittsburgh) but Batman fights Bane at least two times in this film. The earlier fight is probably the watery underground-looking fight from the picture above. As I said before, the broken cowl and "when Gotham is ashes..." scenes are likely the results of the earlier fight. The later fight scene is most likely the Batman and cops vs Bane and mercs scenes that they shot in Pittsburgh and Wall Street (AD's told the New York extras it was one of the final scenes of the film). And in both of those shoots, he's wearing the TDK suit.

5. Nolan isn't Schumacher. The batsuit upgrade in TDK was shown as necessary in the Scarecrow scene. Sure, the argument could be made that the Sonar suit in Batman Forever and the silver highlight disco suit in B&R were necessary because of the story, but really...they were to sell toys.

Agree 100%. :lecture:lecture:lecture:goodpost:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

not digging Bane, or "catwoman" for that matter. Just finding it hard to find anything that really makes me excited for it. I am a huge Batman fan, but honestly have a love/hate for the Nolanverse. Batman Begins was Epic but also slow as hell, The Dark Knight was simply amazing, and TDKR just looks... I dunno, just not feeling it.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I wonder how and where the Batwing is stored? Maybe he flies in and out of that whole we keep seeing in the trailer? And that leads to the batcave?
