Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I wonder if they're going to raise Heath Ledger from the grave to play the Joker one last time...

I'm hoping that they have unused footage that makes it's way into the film.

Ideally we get to see him in Arkham.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Joker will have to be explained somehow. He was too big a part to just forget him entirely.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

The rumor I've herd (and is on IMDB) is that Tom Hardy is to play Det. Harvey Bullock. As for villains Blackmask or Deadshot would be good, but I'm sure it will be someone could be "reality" based. I think for Nolan Two Face is as far outside reality as he'd go. Not jazzed about the title, but it will probably grow on me.

I kinda dislike the title as well... i was thinking he would have titled it redemption or something simular. We'll see where Nolan goes with it.

BUT IMHO, this film won't surpass The Dark Knight. it had a great villian, and a great ending...which is why there really shouldn't be a third film.

Nolan and his brother seem to be rather methodical about their story continuity, so I've no doubt that the Joker will be mentioned. Though Nolan has stated in several interviews that he'll not recast the Joker, and doesn't really even like to talk about it.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I don't really have an opinon on anything yet but I trust Nolan to pull this off again. The next movie could possibly surpass the Dark Knight for me since I still prefer Begins.

Ya know...the more time goes by, the more I lean that way too.

Me to.

When TDK came out I liked it better, but they are about neck in neck for me now.

I think Heath's performance is what make TDK so amazing.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I'd love to see Nolan's interpretation of Harley Quinn. Problem is, I love the comic/cartoon character so much, that I doubt I'd like his real-world creation unless she still had her Queens accent. The voice actress, Arleen Sorkin, was just perfect for the role.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I'd like the Harley idea too then there can still be some connection to the Joker being locked in Arkham.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

The title is OK, not great...seems to be following a traditional progression: beginning/conflict/overcome conflict. Honestly, I'm just excited to see some new news. :clap

I think the Riddler had a ton of possibilties and am surprised to see Nolan rule him out. I would prefer Catwoman not be used and Penquin & Freeze have already been squashed in the Nolanverse so that leaves a number of lesser known but still interesting possibilities...Black Mask, Hugo Strange, Bane, Hush, and Deadshot all could work. Not to mention bringing back Ra's or Two Face even though it didn't sound like they would.....Regardless it's in good hands with Nolan. Hard not to trust him going forward.

And a nod to the Joker seems certain.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Seriously? The Dark Knight Rises? Sheesh. Hope he finds the Silver Surfer and Cobra while he's up there.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

All this Nolan bashing is reminding me of the time when people said "Heath Ledger to play the Joker... WTF MAN WHAT A HORRIBLE DECISION"

In Nolan We Trust

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Yeah, not too impressed with the title but it's still too early yet to decide if it works. I'll know if I like it or not right at the end of the film and before the credits when it builds up to the title, just like it did in Begins and The Dark Knight. If it doesn't make sense, I won't like it. If I sit there and "get it", oh this is about Batman doing this or that . . . then I'll love it.

The Riddler announcement kind of bums me out too, but whatever. Just please, no Black Mask (I bet it's going to happen though).

I don't know. I was excited when Batman 2 became THE DARK KNIGHT with the JOKER CONFIRMED. Ledger attached to the annoucement was kind of "meh" and controversial to me at the time (I was one of the "WTF, BROKEBACK LEDGER?" but it was still a great time and interesting to discuss.

This Batman 3, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, TOM HARDY, NO RIDDLER isn't exciting to me at all. So far with Joker, Two-Face, Riddler and Penguin out of the picture I can't really get excited about any villains other than Catwoman, but even there it feels like "been there, done that" with her interpretations in the Animated Series and Batman Returns.

So the selling point for me will be a focus on Batman and the wrap up of subplots (like the new Batcave, Wayne Manor). I hope it's smaller in the sense that it's similar to Batman Begins and not the Dark Knight and puts more of an emphasis on Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Why Deadshot? That's not historically an important Bat-villain. I know he was in that anime cartoon, but you guys think that's gonna influence Nolan? I suspect some variations of Penguin, Catwoman, and Egghead.

I have no idea who the Black Mask is. Spin-off from "the Mask" comic when he possesses a black guy?

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I have to say, the title "The Dark Knight Rises' isn't great. Sounds like a video game...Metal Gear Rising...:lol even that sounds cooler. We'll just have to grow to accept to it, I suppose. I was really hoping they'd lean towards The Dark Knight Crusade, as it sounds more fitting to end the trilogy. As for villains, I really think Christopher Nolan is purposely avoiding using predictable villains only because people keep creating a buzz before the script(s) are even finished. It must be frustrating to think creatively, when millions of people are constantly implanting ideas into the mix. Christopher Nolan just wants to be original, and avoid cliches at all costs.

So, my guess was The Riddler was a possibility but people wouldn't shut up about it, so he changed his mind. We can expect Catwoman as the lead love interest/side villain. As for the main villain...nobody can really say, it can be Croc, Black Mask, Scarface, The Penguin, The Mad Hatter, and the list goes on... But to be honest, I was hoping for The Scarecrow to be the baddest villain of them all, in the Nolan films, that just didn't happen...except maybe for 5 seconds in Batman Begins when he makes Batman cry home to Alfred.
