Lindy Hemming, has been working with Christopher Nolan since the beginning of his journey to Gotham City. She worked on the costumes for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and of course, The Dark Knight Rises. GQ Magazine interviewed Hemming recently and got her thoughts on Bane and Batman’s look in The Dark Knight Rises.
“Bane was meant to look like a cross between a dictator and a revolutionary,” Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming told us. “I designed the coat myself – it took a year. We took inspiration from a Swedish army jacket and a French Revolution frock coat and amalgamated the two. It was a pain to have made, because in LA shearling is not their sort of thing: there weren’t the tailors who could work with the fabric.”
Hemming went on to explain that Bruce Wayne will once again be sporting Armani suits, but what was much more interesting was her comment about Batman’s suit:
There’s very few changes. The only modifications are to do with the story. But I can’t tell you what they are…
From the photos that have been released, it looks like Batman still has his suit from The Dark Knight. What changes do you think we’ll see as The Dark Knight Rises’ story progresses? Let me know in the comments!
