Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I hope Bane doesn't get too ahead of himself...I mean, the title of "Gotham's Rec.tum" isn't handed out to just anyone, you have to earn it.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Just watched new trailer!!!

"You've given them everything."

"Not everything. Not yet"

Lines gave me the chills just like Heath did as Joker!!!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I don't agree with the idea that this will be an best picture Oscar contender, no matter how good it is. It would set a precedent. While I believe Nolan's bat-movies are among the very best of comicbook-based movies, they are still "comicbook-based movies" and I think the Academy voters are automatically biased against them for that reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if it won a technical award or two, or even a supporting actor/actress nod....but they save the biggest Oscars for their "serious" films.

Too many people point to TDK and expect the same here. But some people don't understand the concept of a sympathy Oscar, which is honestly the only reason TDK won anything to begin with.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

On the DC logo, I don't particularly care for the new one, and I don't even particularly care that they changed it, it's just mildly annoying that they changed it right before this movie comes out. I would have preferred some consistency with the opening logos of the three films.

That's why I compared it to Return of the King, before that film won, it was unprecedented for a fantasy movie to win the major awards. Also, many would argue that the Academy basically gave Peter Jackson the award for ROTK to represent his entire body of work with the trilogy

I think something similar could happen here. To most people, Nolans batman films are a little bit (or a lot) more than just comic book movies. At their core, they are serious, character driven dramas.

If Nolan can deliver something here that not only lives up to the first two but exceeds them, I see every chance of him getting full recognition come awards season

Also, remember that the Best Picture category was widened from 5 entries per year in 2008 to 10 in 2009 predominantly due to the uproar regarding TDKs omission in 2008. Also, Nolan has been snubbed a couple of times at least and is quite widely considered one of the very best directors out there. This could be his moment.

Having said all that, while ur would be amazing for the entire team to get that well deserved recognition, as long as the film lives up to its predecessors, I will be very very happy indeed

We will forever disagree here - Dead or not, there was noone more deserving of best supporting actor in 2008

Just saw the new trailer.

This movie will be epic. It will live up to the hype.

Why wouldn't the guy in the back with the machine gun, just open fire on both of them? Instead of running at them with a gun? Just sayin....:monkey3

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I dunno, I'll get hate for it, but I'm just not impressed. I feel very indifferant, not as excited as I should be. I was excited yesterday with the viral starting to kick back up but maybe Arkham City ruined me and I'm just ready for something differant.

I'm still going to go opening night but I wasn't wowed by anything I saw, and I still dislike Hathaway, her acting feels very flat to me. And something also feels very wrong about her being in the Batwing with Bruce. I know, I know. :cuckoo:

I pretty much feel the same--not as excited as I should be. Batman flying around in a CGI Batwing with Anne Hathaway doesn't leave me breathless. I have never felt that she was right for the part and seeing more footage hasn't convinced me. It was a good trailer but not a great trailer and certainly not a trailer that caused my jaw to hit the floor. Although I recognize that I'm in the minority. But I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one saying, "Shouldn't I be more excited than this?" I'm feeling Pirates 4 levels of anticipation--which isn't bad, but it should be a lot more intense.

Also, the more they push the viral approach, the more I will be reminded of how everything that felt fresh and original with TDK is continuing to be reflected in everything they do with TDKR. Now that the real world location scavenger hunt is finished, I'm sure that in a few weeks the viral people will have Bane masks in pizza boxes like last time. From the title to the marketing, it just feels like they are trying to replicate their past success.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Great trailer. Avengers, TDKR, Prometheus and a new Bond. This is a hell of a year for movies. I don't need to obsess about which is best, I'll see them all.

I surprised there wasn't more reaction to Batman's police dossier. I thought this was cool.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Are you not familiar with the "Principle of Evil Marksmanship" or "The Law of Inverse Ninjas"?

Nice articles. Here's another one in response to Bruce's question to Bane about why he hasn't killed him --

Edit: Actually, this one more accurately describes that scene --
