Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I want Selina Kyle as the new love interest... if she becomes Catwoman that'll just be the cherry on top ;)

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I liked that they added Scarecrow in TDK. It was one of those great cases of how the mighty have fallen. It was like Batman didn't really consider Scarecrow much of a threat anymore & Scarecrow seemed to have his feelings hurt that Batman didn't spend much time on him :nana:

Without Scarecrow, the scene would've been just Batman fighting some generic thugs, really.

I'm not big on the idea of Penguin being in the next film. Catwoman could be done and be interesting, possibly Riddler. I wouldn't mind seeing the story being about Arkham, maybe more Scarecrow...Hugo Strange, Zsasz maybe even bring Thomas Schiff back in a small role for the prison parts? If they're gonna stick with organzined crime and the crimebosses like they've been doing, I'd prefer Black Mask over Penguin.

One thing we can all agree on is that Ledger as the Joker is going to be impossible to top.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Because Two Face is dead and Nolan will not recast The Joker.

I was referring to referencing them in some way, of course. That got diluted from the discussion of my original response, I guess.

I REALLY don't want to see anyone recast or any dead bodies come to life in the next movie or anything. I've been strictly talking about them being a part of the next movie in some way. I hope that's clear.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well, I love The Penguin, so I'd love to see him return. Though I'd rather see Paul Giamatti or Jason Alexander than Philip Seymour Hoffman in the role.

I still think Two-Face is alive. I have ZERO interest in Black Mask.

Honestly, if I could have ANY "villain" I'd still love to see Superman come in to try to capture the misunderstood Dark Knight. Jor-El is really the last MAJOR unexplored relationship in the Batman mythos. The fact that he doesn't quite fit into the world of Gotham is a plus in my book. It demarcates their enormous differences.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I haven't read through the pages so I don't know if this was discussed or not...But I wonder if Ledger hadn't passed, if Nolan would have had the Joker in this film in a major role?

Kal-El? I'm assuming you meant?

Man we need some news on this front bad...the waxing poetic about the Batman villains and analyzation of various comments and nods are getting to the point where if those aren't the villains included people are going to explode in nerdrage.

BTW, the Penguin is completely doable since in the Silver Age it was a nickname he couldn't shake and in the modern age its the same, he looks like one but isn't one or some weird mutant hybrid of one. Burton ____ed the hell out of that character and people still haven't recovered.

Yeah, of course. Ledger had a contract for another one.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

According to Goyer originally both Ledger and Eckhart were originally stated to be in the third as it was supposed to connect with Two-Face becoming the main villain in the 3rd. Things were altered by Nolan and his brother but he states that was originally the plan and both had contracts for sequels. Eckhart mentioned in a recent news interview that he still has it although he thinks they won't use it.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Actually Eckhart's contract only included The Dark Knight. Ledger's on the other hand had him for an additional film.

Strange how things work. Character (Two-Face) dies (not meant to come back), actor (Eckhart) lives. Character (Joker) lives , actor (Ledger) dies (meant to continue his role).

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Really? Huh...that contradicts what Eckhart said about returning via Flashback but then again its the internet so anything really could be said.

Either way since they are starting from scratch it should be interesting what comes up

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Harvey Dent was written to be dead at the end of Dark Knight, but there are many ways of writing that problem away if they choose to use the character again. Batman 3 is not going to be the film originally planned, so what Nolan told Eckhart doesn't mean anything now.

Harvey Dent was a formidable villain in Dark Knight and I'd be happy to see him again in some capacity, even if it's as a supporting role.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah you said it. Dent. Is. Dead.

"Dent lies at the bottom of the hole, his neck broken. DEAD" - The Dark Knight script
