Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I would like to see Nolan's version of Catwoman; however, I don't think the movie needs her. There are plenty of women they can put in the movie.

This is my problem. Why does the movie need a love interest so badly? Whats wrong with having no women at all.

TDK and to a lesser extent Begins managed to blend the romance into the movie into a way that made sense, but at this point it seems like they are adding a female cast member just out of some unwritten rule that every superhero movie must have a romance subplot.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Well a romantic partner in life is an aspiration of most people. I think it's natural to work a love interest in for Bruce. Rachel was a symbol as much as a specific person in Bruce's life, she was his cling to a normal life like everyone, his hope for a normal life beyond Batman. I think it would add an interesting conflict for the character to have a new glimmer of life outside of being Batman.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I prefer my Bruce Wayne to sleep around and date super models. Not that I condone that way of life but it seemed to fit the character best in Begins. No attachments, just do your vigilante job.

Chris Nolan is lining up actresses he'll meet for two female lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises, the third installment of the Batfranchise which Warner Bros has dated release on July 20, 2012. I'm told one of the roles is a love interest for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne, and the other is a villain. The actresses are: Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley. Nolan is keeping the roles under wraps, just the way that he did when he drafted his Inception star Tom Hardy to come aboard to likely play a villain. Deadline broke that story October 13. I'm still not sure what the role is and I believe Hardy took the job without knowing or reading a script that's still being tweaked.

think its pretty safe to assume lively and portman wont be in this film... id be happy with any of the others.

That's why Catwoman has always been such an important character. She's a wildcard that threatens to overturn his whole game.

Or something. I don't know. I think I just want to see that cleavage on the big screen.

I'd say shes definitely the next villain. If they do I really want a no name to play the part.

Thing is, in Begins and TDK, I get the vibe that it's a fascade for the public, I don't feel like he ever does anything with those girls but walk around with his arms around them for show at public events.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm not enough of a comic reader to know how it is in the comics, but I agree with Maulfan. He gets seen in public with the woman, has a playboy reputation, but doesn't actually do anything. Bruce Wayne is a facade for public consumption, inside he is really Batman, and I don't think Batman really has time for that kind of companionship. On the other hand, I do see Catwoman as the exception to that, similar to what Devil says. She's a threat.

I think it would be awesome to have Catwoman in the movie. And I'll go for any of those actresses as the leading lady. Much better than the last two, although Katie Holmes isn't bad.

And Seditionary, you make a good point about why Talia should not be in the movie. I forgot about Ras talking about his wife.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It's been suggested that Talia al 'Ghul might be the villain. That might be interesting to link up with the first film. I still think Harvey will return.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Two-Face's return is what I most want to see for the movie. Second I wanna see another mob type Bat villain battling it out with Two-Face. Catwoman comes in third on the list. And all three may be a bit much for one movie.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Good thing Two-Face is dead then. :monkey5

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

That's the list of rumored actresses? I would rather Nolan just call up Marion Cotillard (from Inception) again. She'd make an excellent Talia or Selena and not just because of her looks. I think she's stunningly beautiful, in a elegent and sophisticated way but she also is a great actress.

Edit: yes, I already know that Marion has been a rumored contender for a while now. I just think she's a better choice than most the new hopefuls.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

It was always on the cards that this film would be entirely in IMAX, and it will be a joy to behold if that ends up being the case... the IMAX scenes in TDK were truly astonishingly beautiful... The clarity... unmatched.

:clap:clap:clap to both not being in 3D, and that it looks like it will be shot entirely in IMAX

I like 3D, but not for a Nolan's Batman movie

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I know we've alot of discussions on here about a third Batman movie ever since TDK came out...here's my take:

The death of Racheal is sure to have a lasting impact on Batman with Joker being his closest link to her. Perhaps there will be a scene where Batman goes to arkham to confront Joker in his cell and ask him some questions? Joker wouldn't need to be the main bad guy and shouldn't be the main bad guy but he needs to be present in the Batman universe as much as possible. I think Joseph Gordon Levitt could fill the part in a small role.....maybe even at the end, Batman could discover that JGL was an imposter Joker and the real Joker has escaped? (nod to the comics!)

I still say Catwoman could work if done right. It'd be a great time to introduce her. I also feel that Batman needs to be alot more brutal and relentless in this one after what he went through in Dark Knight. I hope he has a more wicked looking suit, moving a bit away from the hi-tech look of the last one.

I think it'd be hard to make a third batman movie without any solid reference to the Joker. They even brought Scarecrow back in TDK for a few minutes. And I do understand people's concerns over Catwoman, but it can really work if they stay far from the classic campy takes on the character. Catwoman has actually become an awesome character over the years and Nolan is the man who could really take it a step further with the chracter. Even if she doesn't end up in the movie, it looks like she's sure to be a big hit in the new Batman videogame if nothing else.
